I bought my Mother a new cheese board that she wanted for Christmas but I wanted to get her something to go with it. I was thinking Hickory Farms because the cheese seems to stay good for a few days, so I won't be running out Christmas Eve getting Cheese. Has anyone had it before?

Many Thanks :)

They are good...but deli cheeses from a good deli or cheese store are much more tasty;)

Hickory Farm products are very, very popular - especially among older people. However, they are not my favorite though. You could make your own basket of products by going to Whole Foods, some nice co-op or a really great Italian deli and asking their advice for what cheese would be good for a gift basket. Putting in a bit of extra effort when pulling together a gift is always nice. The biggest problem is: if you do something like this, the cheese has to remain refrigerated until you give it to the person. Then they should refrigerate it right away.

I'm not a huge fan of Hickory Farm cheese....but I know a lot of people like it (or eat it). I would buy some specialty cheese - these keep for a "few days" too and are much better. You'll just have to refrigerate it (put it in a Christmassy little sack). I know it's a pain to "refrigerate" a gift (!) but she will really enjoy the cheese.

The cheese "stays good for a few days" because it is mostly processed cheese food - not really cheese. If you want to get her some nice cheeses, you are better off going to the store and picking out some real ones. Sorry! I know that's not the answer you want to hear, but if you want to really make it nice, don't buy Hickory Farms.

it's not cheese- it's processed cheese food. That's why it stays good for days.
If your mom is not a cheese connoisseur, hickory farm is not too terrible. If she happens to like cheese and knows a bit about it, don't offend her by buying hickory farm. Get her a hard cheese like romano or get her sharp cheddar, wrap it in wax paper and refrigerate it - it'll be just fine until mid-January, well after Christmas.

I've generally been happy with Hickory Farm cheese; good but not remarkable.
However, my favorite brand is Black Diamond.

Hickory Farms makes some wonderful cheeses and their beef sausage is great - I think getting her some of their cheeses it a wonderful idea. Get her a variety to serve on her new cheese board that will be both tasty and colorful.

Ah, yum! If you really want to know for sure, ask for a sample! They give them out all the time, mostly of the cheese logs and balls. They have a variety, and different prices, too. They are very yummy! I've tried them all, and I won't be able to get one because I'm soooo broke, and they usually sell out before Christmas.
