Taste is too broad and personal to really recommend one thing over another without knowing more about what you like. As a general rule of thumb though I suggest you stick to one thing and pace your drinking so that you don't have an awful first experience.
My take on beer is that it is superb. There's a huge world of beer out there and I recommend that you stay clear away from beer made by big companies like Budweiser, Coors, Miller, Heineken, Amstel... because they tend to be very flavorless and similar. Check your area to see if there is a local brewery and start with their stuff.

You could also try a tall, plain, unsweetened iced tea with a shot of amaretto dropped in instead of sugar. Again, the caffeine in the tea will offset the effects of the alcohol. It would also be refreshing - if you like iced tea - & not too hard of a hit for a first-timer. Don't do the usual hard stuff. You won't enjoy it. Remember, you're having a drink or 2 for the social aspect of things, not to get tipsy or drunk. I actually have much more fun a time when I consciously keep myself the least-drunk of all those I'm with. I have more fun watching them as compared to getting stupid myself. You're much safer in your social-standing / position when you stay with it as opposed to getting drunk & out of it.

Long Island Iced Tea or Guerilla Fire (well, maybe not a 'first timer' type drink but good)
Beer is icky, in my opinion anyway...
Its been like 8 years since I drank but I can still recall the lovely warming feeling of both drinks.... **sigh** maybe I could have just one, for old times sake, but no, I promised myself I would never drink and be around my kids afterwards... ** oh well** thoughts there... Hey - have one for me please!!!

Beer will probably taste the worst to you, but is probably the safest to drink in moderation. It would probably leave you with less of a hang over than any other alcoholic beverage. I prefer Bud Light. Don't drink if you're under age and don't drink and drive! Happy Holidays!

I am a bartender and I suggest Vodka and 7up if you have never drank before. Make sure you request a lime slice with it, as the lime softens the alcohol taste.

Traditionally children drank "small beer" (a very weak beer) and watered-down wine. So why not order a shandy or wine spritzer as an easy start?
If you like sweet foods you may prefer wine to beer. Whatever you choose, as a young person, take it easy. Just one.

Don't even start. If you don't drink, don't. Ask for a tonic water with lemon or lime or just plain water w/lemon. You don't have to drink to have a good time. Plus you can drive yourself home and feel good the next day. I never drink when I go out because people put stuff in your drinks these days. Just have fun. Good luck.

Wine coolers, or wine 'spritzers' are sweet, tasty and low in alcohol. Good for 1st timers. Sip slowly, and party with your friends.
Beer is an acquired taste, and I love it!
