well im 14 and have scoliosis. i have some panic attacks at times but not too often. my head always feels heavy and ill feel like pressure on the back of my head and in ears. i get dizzy a lot and my ears always click (i have symptoms of tmj too), my head sometimes feels like its a baloon floating up and the back of my neck sometimes hurts. im scared to go on stage because i might get dizzy and fall or pass out. when i go to auditrioms and stuff like that ill feel sorta lightheaded . like one time i went to this show and it was really bright i felt weird n off balance like i usually do but once they turned off the lights i felt a little better. (the off balance was gone but the pressure on the back of my head was still there)
so my question is is this tmj, anxiety or something else?
is there any thing i should try to make this stop because its really annoying?
also i have a nuerologist appointment soon so anything that i could suggest as a possibility??
thanks!!!

SHANNON- how did your anxiety go away?

This is not anxiety - it sounds more like chronic sinus inflammation. The dizziness and ear clicking occurs when swelling causes a blockage in the Eustachian tube that connects your ears to your sinus cavities. Swollen sinus cavities cause inflammation around the eyes, cheeks, and back of neck - this can then trigger a tension headache or migraines. A rice or corn-filled heating pad placed around the base of your neck can work wonders for the creeping headaches.

You can try out some over-the-counter meds to see if they work: Mucinex -an expectorant that promotes sinus drainage; and Claritin-D - an antihistamine and decongestant.

I also have scoliosis and some of the other symptoms that you have. It sounds like anxiety but do tell the neurologist what is going on with you. He will be able to help and get you to where you feel good and are able to do more things. Make a list of things that you want to discuss with him. Good luck..

I used to experience this too. It was diagnosed as anxiety disorder. The anxiety also contributes to TMJ. Once my anxiety went away, the pressure in my head, dizziness etc. went away.
