They are dead in their graves awaiting the resurrection to judgment.....What do you think is the ultimate fate of some of the most wicked people on earth—people whom God has already punished? Notice what Jesus said about the wicked people of Sodom, "And you, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to Hades; for if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. But I say to you that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment than for you" (Matthew 11:23–24).
God consumed the people of Sodom with fire and brimstone and destroyed every human being! Are they now also suffering the so-called flames of hell? No! They are dead! Yet Jesus said it will be "more tolerable" for them in the day of judgment. What day of judgment is that? We discover in the 20th chapter of Revelation a resurrection to judgment, in which the books will be opened as the scriptures say. It is at this point that all those who have been spiritually blinded will receive an understanding of the Bible and the words of life for the first time: "And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books" (Revelation 20:12).
Yes, those who have suffered from their own sins and those who have been innocent victims of oppression and genocide, will be resurrected to understand the Book of Life. They will have their first real opportunity to understand the Gospel and the love of God the Father for all humanity. As Peter wrote, "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9).
In the White Throne Judgment, billions of atheists, sinners and pagans will finally learn from their past suffering, and will be given the opportunity to truly repent, believe the gospel and eventually inherit the Kingdom of God.

I am a Christian, and I believe that would depend on what type of life was led by the individual.
I do not have an image of heaven that includes clouds and harps.
I do not believe that our after life is something that can be conceived of with human, or earthly imagery.
No matter what a person's faith is, or no matter what a person believes or subscribes to, I believe we all have the opportunity to be good people during our time on Earth.
I think the Golden Rule applies to us all, and I believe many atheists believe in kindness, and compassion and I believe that would be recognized in the after life.

This will happen to all who do not believe in Jesus as the Son of God;
All men die and at death we are taken to a place called Hell. This is a place of torment where men suffer and regret they have never acknowledged Christ and where worms eat away at their spirit. They are also burned in firey flames.
Then the Great and Terrible Day of the Lord comes and all people will be judged here where a person will die the second death which is worse then the first death. All who declare that Jesus is the Son of God and is God and who obey him will enter into eternal life, but all whose names are not written in the book of Life will die the second death and be thrown into the Lake of Fire for eternity. There flesh will burn off and their eyes will be consumed, they will have maximum torment here for all eternity.
God made the way so what excuse do we have?

Hell? Really???
I thought nothing happened. Cause, there isn't a hell (or a heaven) for Atheists to believe in, thus, they don't go.
Like, a missing road on a map - if its not on the Atheists map, then, how will they get there??
But then that raises the question of, if one were to believe in God but not believe in Hell, regardless of all the countless references to hell and the devil - where does that person go? Well, then one is to assume that if one is a Christian of sorts, then one goes to heaven.....simply for accepting that Jesus is the Son ect ect....
Hmm...
Stop posting such profound questions! Now, i wont be able to take my mind off it....
*sigh*

I can see there are a lot of people that have been taken in by the biggest lie of all time. You all are very arrogant to think that you are right and better than another person. You are no different from any other living thing on this little planet.

I don't think too many atheists are overly concerned with the "according to Xianity" part. In fact, according to Xianity, practically everybody is going to be a weenie roast in hell, so a sign outside Heaven would read "Heaven, pop. 3,433" and the one outside of Hell would read "Hell, pop. 24,334,334,356"
Just talk to most of the fanatic types and you'll be assured that everybody BUT themselves including Xians of other denominations will end up roasting in eternal flames.
So the atheists won't have to worry about being too lonely. Hee hee.

According to Christianity, there is only two places to go - heaven and hell. The bible says atheists go to hell because they are not saved.

No person can answer that question. Only God knows the entire circumstances of a persons life. When Jesus instructed people not to judge others, He was refering to comparing your holiness to others, AND judging someones soul. Those are for God alone. We are free to judge individual actions, as our own actions should be judged, but not the soul of another.

Scripture teaches that all go to the grave. All will be resurrected. Those who have not accepted YHVH will be resurrected with the wicked, and then purified (destroyed ) in the lake of fire that eliminates sin and sinners. He is as generous as He can be, without letting unrighteousness reign (again).

Rev 19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
Rev 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
