The Holy Scriptures of all Faiths have something to say concerning the future of this place called Earth.
Within the Christian Tradition one known as Jesus (PBUH) said this: "Be in the world, yet not of it." If this is not closely followed, this can bring harsh consequences within the life and world of man.
Knowing this and observing mans behavior, more people are (of it) than there are (in it). I believe that humans have not listened to the warnings so freely given them over the past few thousand years.
If this is indeed a truth, does the future look promising or bleak? The answer to that question lies within the "Wisdom" of each human being!
"Peace be always with you."

Revelation 22
The River of Life
1Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb 2down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. 3No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. 4They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. 5There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever. 6The angel said to me, "These words are trustworthy and true. The Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, sent his angel to show his servants the things that must soon take place."

It doesn't exactly. One of my favourite passages says, "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." That's Jesus speaking in John 16:33. Sure, life will be hard - but Jesus has overcome the world, and He is right here ready to help us get through it too. I find that gives me great peace.
