this is a serious question. i'm not trying to take stabs at either side here. i'm curious to know who is really more insulted? the atheists, from the idea that many christians and other religions believe we are doomed to eternal hellfire and torture because we don't want to believe what they believe? or is the christians and other religions, who believe that everything they have good in their lives is because they were blessed by god, and then see atheists who can live good lives without believing in a god?

l.c. i mean people who are genuinely happy with their lives doing what they want to do with their lives. they are not in danger of hurting themselves or others any more than you would believe you're in danger of hurting yourself or others. that's what i consider a good life.

Non.No matter which way either feels, living by your faith is not mutually exclusive with any other faith. If people can live together with different food habits, costumes,,customs, traditions, languages and host of other dissimilarities, why can't they live together with different faiths? How were humans living together when there were no religions? It's just a historical hang over and vanish some day.

Looking at the main point of your question, there's no reason for either to feel insulted. The problem arises when some, from either or both sides, expects the other to listen intently but doesn't return the same courtesy. Atheists might feel insulted when a Christian wants to ask if the atheist has done sufficient research in order to establish the non-existence of God. Christians might feel insulted when people make fun of Jesus Christ, the Bible, or other strongly held beliefs.
One very sad thing about this forum is the waste of good intelligence. People can, and should, post ideas of what they believe or don't believe. But in so doing, they should at least consider other points of view. I've tried to explain why I believe the way I do using Scripture, which few people seem to read except for finding problems, except when making a light-hearted response. No insults intended, I assure you.
We believers may come across a little strong because several of us have lived lives without God, and have found life to be better after coming to know and love Him. We want the best for everybody and realize not everyone shares this concern. Let each be fully persuaded in his or her own mind.

Christians believe that the good things in their lives and in atheists' lives, are because of blessings from God. God loves all his children, whether they believe in Him or not. So Christians wouldn't feel insulted by the fact that you can live a good life. Quite the opposite, they would be glad that you are happy and well, because that is their religion: to love their neighbor. Along the same lines, atheists shouldn't be insulted because of the concern for them by their christian brothers and sisters. Rather, they should be thankful that others are concerned about their eternal welfare.

As a non believer, not necessarily an atheists however, I really don't care what those of other religions think will happen to my "eternal soul" so I am therefore NOT insulted in the least. The christians, however, are very good at being insulted whenever someone doesn't follow their point of view........

God is the most insulted. Considering Jesus came to suffer as a ransom for the sins of man that those who take no interest or indeed hate the idea of the free gift of salvation seems pretty insulting to God it seems to me. This is why come Judgement Day he'll be so angry with those whom He is compelled to condemn.

I am a Christian, but I will say atheists are more insulted- because as a Christian, I am proud to be insulted if I am insulted for standing up for my Jesus.

What do you mean by live good lives? Do you mean wealth, works,...?
My life was not fulfilled until I came to faith in Jesus Christ.
I don't feel insulted, so I would have to say that atheists do.
