I want to make a cookbook for my mom with different recipes I have found. Do you think that is a good gift? Would you want a cookbook?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE cookbooks and I'd be excited to receive a cookbook from my daughter. Years ago our daughter made up a cookbook for me with all 'family ' recipes, she collected them from various family members with little extra 'notes' and made it fun, I use it to this day, it is a real treasure. FYI - my Mom and Mother-in-law are both with the Lord now but I have recipes from them in their own handwriting that I treasure, thanks to our daughter. Go for it!

A cookbook is a very thoughtful/wonderful gift.. If she likes to cook... I'm getting my husband "A Man and a Can" cookbook.. Since he cares for the kids while I'm at work.. He needs to roundout his cooking....

Good luck

It certainly depends on the person but personally I love to get cookbooks. I especially like the ones that are put together by churches or other groups. These are usually the fastest and easiest recipes.

I am a mom and a grandmom and I think that is so touching and special. Much better than buying the latest cookbook out there! You are special. Good decision. Your mom should love this even if she doesn't like to cook.

I would love a homemade cookbook and if your mom is into cooking I am sure she would as well. Here are some suggestions to make it special and easy to use:

I would use a 3-ringed binder that has a cover that allows you to slip a cover page or sheet of paper into and sheet protectors to put your recipes in - this not only protects them but allows you to better organize your recipes. Print them out on lined paper from your PC or if they are clippings, paste them to plain or lined paper - this lets you write notes that are legible and easy to read. Use subject dividers to separate into categories and use scrapbooking supplies to fancy it up and make it more personal..

A homemade cookbook? YES! One of my all-time favorite Christmas presents was a cookbook my mother-in-law made using her recipes, her mother's recipes and other recipes she'd gotten from friends.

I love books in general! I think giving your mom a nice cookbook is a great idea. I love receiving them for gifts. I'm giving a new, bound Joy Of Cooking book to my husband, since the pages in his paperback are falling out. He's the chef in our family! He collects them.

I think it is extra special that you are making it. But...does she like to cook? and does she like the kinds of recipies in the book. My mom doesn't eat much meat, so if I bought her a cookbook with mostly meat recipies, she would not like it. So, keep your mom's likes and dislikes in mind when making it. Merry Christmas!

A cookbook that she would be interested in. If its not something she fancies, then she might assume that she needs cooking lessons.

Yes, as long as the recipes are tested and good! And also as long as your mom enjoys cooking. That is a very sweet gift. You can make it all fancy with scrapbooking materials, etc. How thoughtful.
