No, you should just use you brain when you're at any website. Determine the source of the site and see if you think they might have a bias. Too many people believe everything they read and never check the sources. This applied to any kind of site...

So National Geographic is a biased site? How about the news services?

I personally would never use a site like talkorigins as a primary source because they are. But fortunately they link to good non-biased sources.

Now if you really want to believe the whole world is out to get you go ahead. But you can make the case with real sources that actually have a long standing reputation if you have one. The thing is it only costs$6.99 a year to register a website. I have five of them.

Oh dear!!!!

Religious freedom means not just freedom to believe and worship as you want but also freedom from religion!!!

When you speak of bias try looking at Christians against gays, science and all the other things.

If it was not for atheists and the other religions this world would be full of hate and discrimination. Probably totally ignorance as well since you seem to preach against learning of anything you do not like!!!!

Please be free to worship and believe as you will and have the grace to allow others to do likewise!!!!!

Atheists want you to think for yourself--which is something that cannot be said of many Christian websites.
And the term is "biased." "Bias" is a noun.

You should if the site is not backing their claims up with facts that you can independently verify. Yes I know, I am saying that you will have to actually look into what they claim are facts.

As for Christian websites; They are presenting one view and one view only. They are dismissing, shunning, or even bashing other possible systems of belief. I'd say that is biased all right.

You can only do so much thinking for yourself... especially if you are Christian. What else have you got in your knowledge base other than nature and nurture? So everything you do is plagiarism already, in a way. You'll have to uncover the liars for yourself. You certainly shouldn't just take my thoughts at face value and run with them... or anyone elses. That's what critical thinking is all about.

To be honest - because we are all humans and have our own opinions about things, it is very difficult for anything not to be biased to some extent.

What I do is read both sides and determine from there what sounds right - because it's usually not one or the other, but both somehow. Know what I mean?

No. You should think like YOU. I would have to say that many religious websites display information that supports their religion or doctrine, but not necessarily all are biased.
It is actually the doctrine that is biased because it (in most cases) does not take facts into account, it merely restates its doctrine to any new evidence that is presented. Thats either biased or just plain bull-headed.

There is potential for bias in both, as the emotions run high.

When a persons values are "challenged", they often react with a high degree of emotion.

Which is EXACTLY why people do not want to be "preached" too.

Peace.

No, many sites use objective facts, rather than opinions. But I've never seen a Christian site that did that. Actually, I've never seen a Christian site without an Appeal to Emotion.

That could just be because the Christian sites that get posted in R&S tend to be fundie preaching...
