Our family dog have a problem with its bum:P lol jokes! Well we think she might have a infection or shes allergic to something she itches and must eat off the hair or something because her tail bum, and back of back id bald and it red a swollen and gross!
She possibly is just allergic to fleas or something if she has them but i doubt we'll see the vet cause it's not life threatening. So has anyones bet had this before and can tell me what it is and if there a cheap quern?

We have a Rottweiler, and according to the Vet. they frequently have sensitive skin. (esp. in the hotter months) We sometimes have to give her Prednisone for her itchiness, or else it drives her and us CRAZY! Don't know what kind of dog you have, but if it has a lot of fleas, it COULD be an infection from the bites. Anyway, if it's not treated now, it could get much worse later!

If what you are describing is right on her rear end, then her Anal Glands are probably impacted and infected and she needs to have them emptied by a vet. "This is very painful and itchy for the dog". Since it sounds like your dogs anal glands are already infected, you need to have a vet empty them and treat them as soon as you possibly can. If infected anal glands are not treated, then there is the possibility, that your dogs will need surgery, to repair the anal glands. Even if its not life threatening now, and you decide you don't want to do anything about it, if the infection spreads to other parts of her body, she's going to have big time problems. Please don't do that to her! It's not fair! This procedure is not expensive at all at the vet, it does not take long to do, and your poor dog, won't have to be miserable.

She could have "hot spots" she can get those from being allergic to something. If she is chewing at her bum, its red, swollen and looking gross..then you need to take her to the vet. BUT ..you can try some Cortazone cream from the drug store, somthing that you can use on children. That will help to cool it down some..oatmeal baths with help her also. But if you are only 13 years old you should tell your parents that she need these things or she needs to go to the vets. Good Luck!!

If it itches and she's bitten the hair off, obviously it is bothering her. It could be fleas, but it could well be anal gland impaction. Please get your parents to take the dog to the vet, since she obviously needs it.
Vet visits are not just for life-threatening problems - if your dog is in discomfort (as she obviously is) then she needs attention, just as YOU would want help if you were in discomfort.

Vets are not just for life threatening problems and your dog is very uncomfortable. She probably has an allergy to fleas or something else and it is infected. She needs a vet.
If it were you, you'd go to a doctor right?

I fail to see any humor in a dogs being sick or in any kind of discomfort. Infected anal glads is very dangerous and it hurts the dog very much. Get the dog to the vets and have the poor thing treated properly.

It sounds like she has fleas. It doesn't really matter if it's life threating but she is in pain and bothered by it. I would bring her to a vet.
