head. We took him in to see his pediatrian who stated he had Tinea (ringworm) and gave us a presciption for 2 creams Hydrocotrizone and mystatin. We use it for 2 weeks and it cleared. a couple of days after we found little spots all over his head so we took him back and they gave him Fugero which is a prescribed ointment and what we have noticed now its dry up and on the spot it comes back again. now i have taken him 6 times in a month to see his pediatrician and tried explaining that he does not look like a round circle which is the appearance of ringworm and he keeps prescribing a different ointment every time. Last week, i noticed they now look like sores with pus inside now. I have not bursted any due to his scalp is so tender and they dry up to look like a wound. can anyone advise due to i feel very much for my son. Itches it a couple of times a day. Am tired of shaving his head but this is the only way one can see this sores. do i tell the doctor to recommend a specialist.

yes, after all that time if the pediatrician hasn't been able to effect improvement, it's time to take the child to a dermatologist.

I would see a dermatologist. Do you have any pets or is your son around animals on a regular basis? I am not sure how true it is that animals transfer it, but I got ring worm one summer when I babysat. The family had a dog and a cat and I was working 2 weeks on and off 2 weeks all summer long, and the 2 weeks I was there it would flare up, but the 2 weeks off it would heal. I read that it can be transfered through cats but I wouldn't be 100% sure of that. After I didn't work there any longer it healed and never came back. Just a suggestion. Good luck! But bad spots can leave scars for a long time.

I think that you definately need to ask your pediatrician to see a dermatologist(skin specialist). Your pediatrician doesn't have expertice in problems of the skin. Trust me i'm a nurse, take him to the dermatologist asap.
