I broke it two years ago and still have some pain. I broke the bone in my calf and have a titanium rod in it from the surgery. I am slightly limited in movement and have pain, would this exclude me from coast guard?

You would need to go through the physical exam first. It is possible that you might be able to get a waiver through the DoD Medical Review Board. HOWEVER--it is more likely that you will be told that you will need to have the rod removed before you can be allowed to enlist. Also, please bear in mind that the Coast Guard is in a position where they can be rather selective at the moment (remember, this is a force of around 50,000 active personnel).

This isn't intended to put you off--just to let you know that you face some hurdles to pass over in order to get in. Good luck to you whatever you decide to do!

You have a healed fracture with retained hardware that is still symptomatic. It appears to be disqualifying.
