To me it does not at all appear to be a case of dry socket. Take it easy....you will be alright in the coming 2-3 days...but take pain-killers as and when required but not more than thrice in 24 hours. Rinsing with warm salty water will bring a lot of relief to you......but plz,plz do it too frequently say every 2-3 hours.
Just relax....everything is fine

Sounds like 'dry socket' to me. Which is when your clot is washed away and the bone is exposed with a lot of nerve endings causing the pain. Take tablet tylenol thrice a day. Don't use mouth washes and rise too hard, that is what probably caused your dry socket. A medication paste can be filled by your dentist which will protect the socket and act as an antiseptic and relieve your pain the most.

I would have to gues that you are refering to the 2nd premolar. At the root level between the 2nd premolar and the 1st molar lies the antrum of highmore (sinus). I'm thinking it could be infected or traumatized due to a massive force used in extracting your tooth. Or it's patient compliance. Maybe you lacked hygiene. Have it checked again and get an x-ray.

Hope this helps.

THIS IS NOT A COMMON SITE FOR DRY SOCKET, THAT IS USUALLY SEEN IN LOWER WISDOM TOOTH EXTRACTIONS. MAYBE SOME FOOD PARTICLE WAS TRAPPED WITHIN THE HEALING SOCKET?
IF IT'S THIS MUCH DISCOMFORT NOW, SEE THE DENTIST WHO DID THE EXTRACTION FOR FOLLOWUP CARE.

Try an ice pack. Did the dentist give you any pain killers? If not, try a couple of aspirin or Tylenol. Good luck.
