I would suggest finding a place where it's quiet and you won't be disturbed for a little while.

Then use the silence to help focus your mind on God. You don't have to say anything or ask for anything, although you can if you want, of course.

But my best prayer happens when I just "be" with God. No praising thoughts, no asking thoughts, no anything thoughts: just focus on being in His presence and knowing that He is with me.

Try to set aside 20 minutes to an hour each day, where your not disturbed by ringing telephones, tv sets, music and just find a good book to read or just sit in the quiet and contemplate on God's Love. Reading or meditation are types of private prayer.

Privately lol.
I pray everyday and study or listen to scripture.
Also, i have a prayer journal. I write letters to God in it.
I include what is going on in my life, how i feel, and ask for the things I need.
God always answers me.
It is a private intimate time with God...and only He and I share it. No one else.

There is no "right" or "wrong" way to pray. Too many people try to make the simplest of things the hardest thing to understand, with prayer it's about intent, gratitude and sharing yourself with your Higher Power, it's not "how" you do it, you can say it, think it, picture it, dance it - doesn't matter - it's all in how you feel about it.
