We have one cat and ended up having three litter boxes. Unfortunately, he uses all three. Is it possible to remove one successfully without him trying repeatedly to use the area where the box used to be?

We'd rather keep all the boxes than have to deal with an extended period of cat pee in our bathroom (where box #3 is located).

Thanks!

He should adjust and go to the others. Wash the area where the old litter box was with either bleach or ammonia (not both!!! deadly combination!!!).

Good luck! :)

I have 2 cats but only one Jumbo sized litter box but mind you it is emptied every second day. I can't believe your cat has 3 litter boxes to himself, wow that's one spoilt cat!!! I would relocate just the one litter box and your cat to a different secluded area of your house (preferably tiled floors) and keep him contained in that small area until he gets used to using the one litter box. It's not that difficult for your cat to learn to use the one litter box as cats are really clean animals. Once your cat gets used to the idea of using only the one litter box, then the house is his again, yay.....

Your cat doesn't need more than one box. Multiple cat households often have more boxes, sometimes one box per cat.

Remove the box and observe. Most cats will just go in the other box.

You do scoop the box once per day? Right?

Yeah its deff possible. we had way too many too. but you can take as many away as you need to. just make sure that your cat knows where it is. Show him/her where it is. just make sure that you keep up with the litter box because he doesnt have two other ones to go to if that one is dirty.
