Great QUestion! It is hard to believe but halloween isnt just some pagan festival and any ol excuse to celebrate. I agree that Halloween as we celebrate it today, is full of evil and people tend to forget about Jesus and what the celeration is really about. I find Christmas can be the same- full of consumerism, theres so much distraction from what the focus should be on- Jesus Christ. How many people nowadays consider Christmas mass to be the highlight of Christmas? I know I still do. Halloween is meant to be a time to pray for our dead relatives and all the lost souls and the great saints. I believe that as long as theres still a few of us, like u and me, keepin true and showing reverance to God in these times of evil, Jesus will be smiling down on us all. =D X

The Church itself is hyporcital in its very foundation. Many people take in what they are spoon fed without question the theology. Christianity's very DNA is loaded with paganism itself. And was not even a religion until 300 years after the life of Christ. It was man created. Not God. Halloween is a pagan holiday that is no more unholy than Christmas. Halloween is fun to do. Its a tradition that will last and people have a good time. If you are going to slam halloween you better slam Christmas too and ALL other holidays as well. Halloween will NOT bring evil in your homes! The same way as Easter will not bring bunny turds on your footsteps.

You really ought to re-educate yourself. You are displaying total ignorance.
Hallowe'en, or Sam Hain, is the celtic Pagan New Year...It is also a time to remember our ancestors that went before us.
Evil? No way. If remembering a love one that died is evil, then you really are a sorry case.
And I would rather choose Hallowe'en over jesus any day.
You christians are not doing the world any big favours.
As I said before. Re-educate yourself and find a sight or something that will give you the truth about Hallowe'en.
Your very very silly.

You have bought into pagan mythology about Halloween and surrendered a great Christian feast and celebration.

Halloween is the Eve of All Hallows. Hallow is Old English for Holy or Saint. All Saints. All Hallows is the feast of All the Saints. The festival started, from its inception, on the evening before - originally with church services but these were moved to the actual day and people started with a feast the night before. Lanterns were put out to frighten off devil spirits and demons. People dressed up to mock these evil beings.

There is no historical evidence for any pagan festival being hijacked, there is no evidence for any pagan festival on 31st October at all. It is known as pagan solely because Protestant reformers disapproved of Catholic feasts - particularly if they involved a bit of fun - and called them pagan merely as a term of disapproval.

BTW If you want a party, JC does some great wine.

Like Christmas, Halloween has it's origins in the pagan religion. This was a celebration that celebrated the end of the summer and the harvest the the beginning of the dark, cold winter.

Halloween is not evil. What makes you think it's evil? Please, tell me, and if you say it has anything to do with Satan then you're an idiot. It is when the God dies (think Easter) so he can be reborn at Yule (the Winter Solstice, coming up on Saturday) and bring light back to the world.

Learn something before you start spouting your ignorance.

That's a good question.

If Halloween is related to dark spirits, why do Churches support / take part in this celebration?

Seems kind of hypocritical to me.
