When cats greet each other in a friendly, loving way, you'll notice that they rub against each other, butting heads, ect. We're far too tall for little kitty to reach up & head-butt so they do the next best thing and rub against our legs. It's their way of saying, "Welcome home! I missed you!"

good question, the reason the cat is rubbing against your leg its maybe because he/she is hungry or that's your cats way of showing affection to show that he/she loves you very much.

Cats have scent glands they use for marking their territory. Including your legs.

While they might be marking territory, I think it's a way of saying "I like you"... they tend to be aloof and this is one way to be friendly

They are "marking" you. What that basically means is they are putting their scent on you, so that other cats know that he/she has been there, and that you belong to him/her.
