Or are you just reluctantly putting up with it with a smile on your face? True acceptance is true acceptances; saying that someone is brainwashed, demented, or just going through a moment isn't true acceptances.

So are you really accepting of family members who found God and religion?

Jewel:
Acceptance is a two way street. Hopefully your daughter set those two busy bodies straight. Thumbs up.

Gregory:
Well your sister should think for herself. Those are just other people in her church, she should think of what God would think, not what the members in her church would think. Who the hell are they?

Why is christianity a fault? That is like saying that a homosexual is a bad but you still love the homosexual. How is that true acceptance?

However you put it, it still sounds f'd up. I am sure that a homosexual wouldn't feel accepted if a family member told them, "You know I love you, despite the fact that you have this disease called homosexuality. You can't help the fact that your judgement his damaged by your homosexuality".

If that is as far as your acceptance goes, then that is as far as it goes.

Yes.

Just because my experience is not theirs, does not mean they are any less my family.

I had this chat with my daughter (actually several) when she was thinking about converting to Christianity.

I assured her several times that I would not love her any less if she did.

The turning point came when her "teachers" at the church she was attending told her that I was an evil and unworthy person, and that my daughter should love me less as long as I was Wiccan.

Acceptance is a two-way street.

Edit: lol, my daughter simply quit attending. When they showed up looking for her, she told them quite calmly that she didn't think they had a very loving attitude. She wants to be initiated this Yule.

My sister became an aggressive born-again Christian and because I am gay she started parroting all the anti-gay hate stuff she has learned from the other born-againers in her group and spewing this out at me, so we no longer communicate, it's a shame how religions come between family members and cause unnecessary strife. The rest of my family are great just as they ever were, we all feel this alien hate-culture that has entered the family through my sister however, they feel they must tread on eggshells where she is concerned.

Yes, I accept and love my wife along with all of the faults that come with her; Christianity happens to be on of her faults.

Edit - Christianity is a fault because it is a disease of the mind. I accept and love her despite this fault, just as I would have to accept the fault of her getting Alzheimer's disease or any other disease of the mind.

If I did not love and accept this fault I would just throw her but out like a christian would do to a non-christian "loved" one.

I accept anyone's faith as long as they don't prosletyze or preach it to me forcefully. I live in a 90% Roman Catholic country. The question then, really, is: Are they accepting of ME, an atheist? I'm not sure, but I hope so. If not, I don't care. Believe that.

My boyfriend, whom I've been with for over 3 years, is a theist. It is the best relationship that either of us has ever had. I love him so deeply, and give him the utmost respect. His religious affiliations, research and discussion does not sway my feelings for him.
