Can we all burn a few more things because the UK is like the north pole at the moment, we could certainly do with some sunshine! I can barely play golf at the moment and the cold is really getting on my nerves. Anyone else agree? There is a limit to how long we can leave the engine on in our 4X4.

Not a joke!
Leave your engines on!! Do not recycle!! Waste electricity!!

I found an excellent quote from someone:
Global Warming: "Bad for polar bears, good for golfers."

No I do not agree and wonder whether you will be happy with the results. You say you are not joking so I will give you a serious answer.

You seem to be unaware of the consequences of global warming. The first thing to recognise is that it is not uniform. The world is getting warmer but that does not mean that it will be warm everywhere all of the time. In fact one of the first effects of global warming is an increase in extreme weather (hot and cold; wet and dry; windy and calm). So you may find our golf gets disrupted in many different ways as a result of global warming.

Another effect likely to occur in a few years time is that large areas of the world, including many cities, will become uninhabitable (because of flooding and droughts). This would lead to huge social and economic upheaval including unstoppable mass migrations of people. Even if the economic consequences left you still able to afford your golf, the golf course might well become a refugee camp.

If you would like to become better informed so that you can be part of the solution rather than part of the problem then do have a look at the website of Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. This body of experts was established by governments of the world to tell us the truth about global warming and what we should do about it, probably because governments were afraid to tell us the truth themselves.

Best wishes for a better informed Christmas and New Year.

I hope that your question is tongue in cheek, otherwise it is small minded & selfish. There will be drastic consequences anyway of global warming, however it is caused, and we run the risk of mass suffocation by felling the rainforests and piling in more CO2, unless the world acts soon to curb it. Never mind, so long as it doesn't affect your golf...

We get our sunshine in the summer - it's only barely just winter, what are you gonna be like come February! lol

Global warming works both ways aswell - if everyone wasted fuel, it would also make for colder winters in the future!
