Well I use to be vegan I am suppose to be.
A Vegan cannot have any type of dairy products(I am allergic good reason to be vegan!)EX: Mayonaise, Milk, Sour Cream, Cheese, Condensed Milk. etc. Nor do they eat anything that came from an animal. They do not use anything that would harm an animal in there lifestyles. For ex. I use GREEN products good for the earth and it won't harm animals. Ex. Melaleuca Products luv um. You would be surprised when you look at all the labels. Cookies. Bread. McDonalds. Ranch Dressing. Everything involves animals. That is why people created PETA.
Vegetarian includes no meat. Plant based diet. And usually they drink soy but still use mayonaise on there vegie sandwiches.
They pretty much have a replacement for anything with dairy in it. It's just expensive. Here's some sites on it.
Mainly the Hardcore Straightedge kids are Vegans and Hippies are Vegetarians :)
I'm a straightedger myself :)

Vegans are more strict than vegetarians. Vegan do not eat any animal products, including dairy. Many vegetarians will still consume things like milk and cheeses, since the animals are not harmed in the process of making them. Some vegetarians will even eat eggs. But vegans follow much more rigid dietary restrictions in that sense.

But both are based on a belief of not harming animals in order for us to produce our food. Some do it for health reason, but most do it for moral reasons they hold dear.

A vegetarian does not eat meat or fish. Basically the flesh of another living being. A vegan does not eat any animal products at all such as milk, eggs, honey, etc.

According to WordWeb, a freeware dictionary, a vegetarian is an eater of fruits, vegetables, grains, and nuts; someone who eats no meat or fish or fowl or (often) any animal products, and a vegan is a strict vegetarian; someone who eats no animal or dairy products; may also avoid using animal products (e.g. leather). You can have "part" vegetarians who eat dairy products and/or eggs, but that wouldn't fit the definition of a vegan.

I believe a vegetarian excludes all animal flesh from their diets. A vegan is much stricter - they exclude all animal by-products from their diet and sometimes their clothing. For example a true vegan would not eat any dairy products or honey and may not even wear wool, silk or use anything with down feathers. That is my understanding of it- briefly.

i always thought vegan was more
into the whole thing than vegetarians

vegetarians: a person who does not eat or does not believe in eating meat, fish, fowl, or, in some cases, any food derived from animals, as eggs or cheese, but subsists on vegetables, fruits, nuts, grain, etc.

vegan: a vegetarian who omits all animal products from the diet
