The mispelling was not deliberate, and I meant no disrespect so chill, folks. Its a reasonable question, inspired by an older book of MORMON Doctrine.

My politics-including thoughts on Hilary Clinton- have NOTHING to do with the question--nor do my thoughts on Romney for that matter. What a great world this would be if all of us were slower to take offence by read our own meaning into a stranger's words.xo

I DON'T THINK (all) MORMONS ARE SEXIST! Any more than any other group of men.

Again Larry the article is from an old book titled "Mormon Doctrine" by Bruce R. McConkie. ( 1966) so the quote is not taken out of context. SHEESH.

Yes, that phrase was used to describe Emma Smith, wife of Joseph Smith. It is quite the compliment. She went through a lot of crap to support her husband.

It's Mormon.

Yes. What exactly about it?

EDIT: yikes. people think that is about Hilary? Hilary would be the polar opposite of what a woman of God should be like. Not because of her position in life, but because of her attitude and behavior. Elect lady does NOT mean Hilary.

Here is a quote by President Hinckley about what it means to be an elect lady:

"Emma was called “an elect lady.” That is, to use another line of scripture, she was a “chosen vessel of the Lord.” (See Moro. 7:31.) Each of you is an elect lady. You have come out of the world as partakers of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. You have made your election, and if you are living worthy of it, the Lord will honor you in it and magnify you. "

This question looks to me to be, instead, about one of the male candidates who has been a Mormon. Plus an inference about his marital history.
Is the USA election becoming a choice between a mormon and a gorgon?

i think what you are trying to say is that by saying mor"man" you are referring to the misinterpreted notion that the Mormon church is completely sexist. Correct me if this is not what you mean.

Actually on the contrary, We regard women to be the highest respected individual. Nowhere does the doctrine of this Church declare that men are superior to women. Paul said to the Corinthians, “Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord” (1 Cor. 11:11). Each brings his or her own separate and unique strengths to the family and the Church. Women are not just cooks, stewards of our homes, or servants. They are much more. They are the enrichment of humanity

Mormon Doctrine revolves around the Book of Mormon and the Bible, but I'm not aware of any occurence of "Elect Lady" in either book.

Is this whole spelling mormon with an A thing just a way to be rude twds mormons? It seems some people do it on purpose.

All these people saying mormons would vote for Hillary just gave me a shudder and a chill down my spine. I doubt Hillary would even bother trying to campaign in Utah.

I find it interesting that you would take a statement completely out of context and refer to it as Mormon "doctrine". It is sad, as you say, that we can't all be more eager to do our own research instead of accepting every word of popular tripe that comes along.
