recycling plastic?

when you recycle plastic, do they melt it back down, or how does the process work? thanks

The material is cleaned, melted down into slabs, bars, sheets, rods and will be reformed into fences, new bottles,composition board for use in construction of decks, walkways, benches, card blanks for credit cards and thousands of other products.
