Quitting smoking is never easy, but I managed to do it with the Chantix. The biggest side effect I experienced was vivid dreams...not nightmares mind you, just very vivid dreams. You take the med for about a week to ten days before you quit smoking, and the first two or three days are tough, there is no getting around that. But, two or three days of rough going is a lot easier than the weeks and weeks I went thru before trying to quit with nicotine replacement therapy. I highly recommend Chantix.

Chantix worked great for me. I quit Sept 25th following the Chantix instructions verbatum, and not one cheat yet!! I was skeptical as well. The only other success I'd had was something like 24 hours smoke free and I though I was going crazy. As for side effects my dreams were more vivid for sure, but better because they were good dreams (and I usually have nightmares.) Also, slight upset stomach when I took one, and a couple of headaches (but that might not have been related.) Unlike most, cigarettes never tasted bad during my week of smoking on chantix. I did naturally taper off, but not a great deal. Quitting was still hard, but not to the point where I was going to totally lose it. All for all I give chantix 5 stars!! It rocks!!!! Now not smoking is super easy... so it really takes like a month and a half and you're over it. Good luck

My husband and I both started taking chantix. It is working great for him, but for me it was the scariest thing I have ever been through. I had zero history of mental problems before chantix. At first it was just very bad dreams, then it was rage, aggression, uncontrollable mood swings, trouble sleeping, and the list goes on. I stopped taking it about two weeks ago and I am back to my old self and smoking again. My husband is still smoke free so its true that it affects people differently. He has not had any of the problems that I have had and is doing very well. Best wishes to you!

I have been smoke free for two months thanks to Chantix. The only side effects I noticed is that I had a lot more dreams and it caused nausea if you don't eat before taking it. GOOD LUCK!!

Yes, but the nausea was overwhelming and had to stop taking it after a few days.
