I am a meat eater, and will eat almost anything, not very picky. Just curious, is it because of the treatment to animals, the taste, for health, ect, ect. Please explain?

Partly because of how animals are treated, partly because of the effect on the environment. I will eat free-range organic meats from local farms only. The bigger the company, the scarier the meat.

Also, the way we raise so many animals for eating meat is bad for the environment, and a waste of resources. For instance, you have to feed a cow 16 pounds of grain for each 1 pound of meat. Shouldn't we just eat the grain? In terms of energy input-output- eating meat is a waste. Plus, the grains they feed the animals is usually genetically modified, and they use lots of petroleum based fertilizers and pesticides. They also give the animals insane amounts of antibiotics (because they keep them crowded so close together), which makes humans more susceptible to diseases.

Local free range meat is the best choice, and it tastes much better too, and is a lot healthier.

As I got older, my body started having trouble digesting meat. Then one day I was so disgusted wtih this meat I was eating that I decided that day to become vegetarian (that was almost six years ago). I read some stuff, including how consuming dairy fuels the veal industry and how the hens kept for their eggs are treated and had my eyes opened to the horrors of factory farming and decided a few months after going vegetarian to go vegan.

I initially gave up meat when I was 14 because of the way factory farm animals are treated and also how bad for humans the environment that process is. Shortly after that, I learned that because of my family's health history (diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol, heart attacks, etc.) that avoiding animal products was healthier for me anyway.

As a kid, I enjoyed fishing and hunting. One day, the animal I had just killed somehow became real to me as a living, breathing, feeling entity, one that suffered and experienced pain, rather than just something to eat. I decided I couldn't kill animals anymore after that, and it didn't take long before I realized it was no different to let other people kill them for me. I've been vegetarian ever since.

I am a vegetarian because I believe in animal rights. I also believe animals are not meant for food, but that is just my opinion. I can't stand eating something when i know it's no longer living so I can feed myself.

First, I don't feel right eating something that was was living and breathing. So, animal rights first and foremost.
Second, environmental reasons. For example, 54 acres of rainforests are being cut down every minute so we can have our precious beef. They are being cut down so cows can graze there. Sick.
Also, cholesterol is unhealthy and signifigantly cut down by not eating meat.

Are you considering it? If so, that's great and stick with it!

the taste, the idea of eating the dead rotten corpse of a once living thing i think is gross, the health (not really tho), and a little for the animals.
