My brother and I are 2 of the only people in our family who did not inherit this. As my dad and grandfather died of this at a very young age, I know a little bit about it...
*High cholesterol that your body makes, not controllable by diet change and exercise
*Inherited... if you're not born with it, you will not ever get it or be able to pass it along to your children

Question - I was just wondering, as medicine has changed, what else people can tell me about this horrible disease, what medical advancements have been made, if there is a cure for it, etc, etc... THANKS!

I'm no Dr or nurse, so I have to take your word, but I'm convused about the diet/exercise part (I understand there are meds). My father was in ultimate shape... virtually no body fat, loads of daily cardio, extremely healthy diet... even looking at his autopsy report, it says he was in optimum physical shape as far as diet, muscle, etc was concerned... even with all of that (beginning years before they even knew about his condition) his #s continued to sore... granted, this was in the 80s, so perhaps meds are better now... any insight?

there is no cure for genetic hypercholesterolemia, but it can be controlled thru diet, exercise and the use of statin drugs.
