I am a physician and can tell you that polydipsia (excessive drinking from excessive thirst) is one of the symptoms od Diabetes. The classic symptoms of diabetes are polyuria (excessive urination), polydipsia and polyphagia (excessive hunger). Also, one would experience excessive fatigue. Being 20 years old, in addition to having these symptoms would require further testing. This would probably be for a possible diagnosis of Type I Diabetes, which would also be of the juvenile type or insulin dependent type. There is little evidence that suggest that it is hereditary, but it still might be. If you have the above symptoms and are thin (not necessary for diagnosis), although eating a lot, I would get my glucose checked and a HbA1C test. On the other hand, you just might be thirsty from working out and not replenishing the water lost from sweating. When you work out, you lose quite a bit of water and if you do not replace this water loss, you will be thirsty.

One of the many signs of diabetes is overly thirsty. Diabetes is a disease, not lack of healthy habits. You should see a doctor. the earlier you catch it the less damage there may be.

Yes it is possible that you could be diabetic. Also (and I assume this from your avatar) if this is a recent development you could be pregnant. In either case you should see your doctor.

You could just be dehydrated. If you're worried though, you need to talk to your doctor and get tested for diabetes and anything else.
