What should I avoid eating? What should I be eating? Will I deffinately go on the have diabetes? I also have PCOS!

Thanks!

Impaired GT is a pre-diabetic condition. According to the ADA, you may go years before developing diabetes, if ever.

The fact that your doc put you on a low dose of metformin says that he too, is concerned about you becoming a diabetic.

Diabetics have to control their carbohydrate intake, usually 45-60 grams per meal. Carbs cause the quickest rise in blood sugar.

So what to avoid - nothing - what to eat - everything in moderation. If you plan out your meals, you can have a sweet treat or potato or other carbs. It's great if you can substitute sugar-free products for their full sugared counterparts - like soda, syrup, lemonade, candy etc.

Diabetes is NOT a death sentence if you take care of yourself.

Ask your doctor to refer you to a dietitian. If you are overweight, you are at risk for diabetes. You need to eat a well balanced diet. Some people who lose weight decrease or eliminate their for medication.
