Some are rather unusual, and sound as if there would be a story behind them.

corpsmanlove1!: This is the second nicname given to me while I was still in service. Apparently, they couldn't quite figure me out. I used the first one for a little while, but 'DOA' has a bit of a negative feel to it. I may switch back.

This one is particularly tough to decide. I've narrowed it down a bit, but will take a little more time to consider. Lots of great names and some of the stories behind them are interesting as well.

It's from something G.K. Chesterton wrote:

"in every age and country outside Christendom there has been a feud forever between the philosopher and the priest. It is easy enough to say that the philosopher is generally the more rational; it is easier still to forget that the priest is always the more popular. For the priest told the people stories; and the philosopher did not understand the philosophy of stories. It came into the world with the story of Christ

"And this is why it had to be a revelation or vision given from above. Anyone who will think of the theory of stories or pictures will easily see the point. The true story of the world must be told by somebody to somebody else. By the very nature of a story it cannot be left to occur to anybody. A story has proportions, variations, surprises, particular dispositions, which cannot be worked out by rule in the abstract like a sum. We could not deduce whether or no Achilles would give back the body of Hector from a Pythagorean theory of number or recurrence; and we could not infer for ourselves in what way the world would get back the body of Christ merely from being told that all things go round and round upon the wheel of Buddha. A man might perhaps work a proposition of Euclid without having heard of Euclid; he would not work out the precise legend of Eurydice out having heard of Eurydice. At any rate he would not entertain how the story would end and whether Orpheus was rising, not defeated. Still less could he guess the end of our story or the legend of our Orpheus rising, not defeated, from the dead."

Peace to you.

Mine is from the Thomas Gospel. About 5 years ago maybe 6 I read it over and was amazed by it, because at that point I had never read anything religious, spiritual, no scripture stuff whatsoever but I had always had spiritual experiences, IBE's (inner body experiences, is the only way I can explain it), and I knew things of that capacity. So when I read the Thomas Gospel I was surprised that something like that existed that conveyed things I knew on my own. (Yes I was sheltered lol, but I was a teen back then and I went by my own experiences, not the words of another, as I do now ...one must prove all things within themselves to genuinely know).

However there was always one saying that stuck out to me...

42. Jesus said, "Be passersby." (Thomas Gospel)

It defines me as a person, all my life I have been a passerby towards the mundane everyday life things. I have been more interested, or rather moved by seeking after the Truth and understanding the human condition in observation and acquaintance, my ideal and goals were far more important than anything my friends were immersed in or how my environment was. So I passed it all by, never becoming attached, or conditioned to any of it... thus I am a passerby in regards the world :).

When I was very young, I was scared that I would fall in love with the wrong man and wouldn't know if he was "the one" or not (what was wrong with me that I was worried about this at the age of 8 or so!?) So I asked God to have the man I was supposed to be with call me "My Angel." I didn't think of it much as I was growing up, but I guess it was always there at the back of my mind.

As such, I had become obsessed with being called "Angel" (even if I never told anyone why). I speak Japanese, but having the name "Tenshin" seemed overdone. I was a Persian-Farsi linguist for several years for the military, so I went with "Fereshte", which means "angel" in Farsi.

On a side note, my current bf did end up calling my "my angel" one day randomly (though I had never told anyone about my silent pact with God.) I took it as a good sign...

When I first came on here I was using my real name-one day at work my boss called me from his house- he was on yahoo and told me if I was gonna do this during work I had better hide it better lol
anyway you know that Brandon coined the term "sinniest" and you know where VT comes from
I love angels- especially the half dressed ones--but since I lost my religion several years back this was the only angel that really fit. I stuck the copyright on there just to emulate you a little --haha just kiddin--some kid stole my avatar one night and so just out of meanness I stuck the copyright symbol out there..

I was watching a movie produced by Jacquot Benoit that I really enjoyed about the time when I was creating this account, thus the first name.

I bought an Amy Winehouse CD that I thought was terrific, thus the last name.

No way in hell I use my real name. I don't want anyone showing up at my door.

My first one, emmapeel66, was from the British TV show of the 1960s, The Avengers. It's one of my all time favorite shows. The one I have now is from The New Avengers. Purdey was the female counterpart to John Steed and Mike Gambit. My high school/college boyfriend used to call me both, so when I was picking names, they just both came to mind.

Wraeth is a long story. People often think I'm crazy when I explain it so I won't get into it here. PHA is the Pagan Heathen Alliance of which I seem to be the only member.

I'm always in the land of the pixies, so I constantly come up with some names for the characters of the stories I like to write. None have ever been published, but I like to write them anyway.

The call became into very virtually incredibly "Nuno", that can the two be a perfect call or a nickname for somebody named Antonio (in simple terms as, in English, "John" could be the two a perfect call or a nickname for somebody named Jonathon). it incredibly is definitely not uncommon-- Nuno Gomes performs for Benfica of Lisbon (Benfica is one in each of Portugal's right communities-- Nuno performs forward, and wears shirt #21).

Nightwind is the name of a roleplaying character I had many years ago (like 12 years ago) on IRC, so I was always logging on as "Nightwind." People started recognising me by that name so when I went to other places I continued using the name so people knew it was me.
