It's not very common, but it happens more than people would think.
Take good care of yourself.

You could make sure to get enough calcium in your diet. Some studies have shown that to help lower blood pressure. Also you could try eating more rice . I read about a study that seemed to say that eating more rice could absorb excess salt or cholesterol in the gut to keep blood pressure down.
Of course diet/exercise and losing weight would probably help also, but that is difficult to do..Reducing stress might help the blood pressure also. You could try a self-hypnosis relaxation tape for stress relief.
Alcoholism can cause high blood pressure...if you drink, try and eliminate that or at least cut back on it.

Fats and sugars are the reasons for Coronary Artery disease. Salt is a contributor to High blood pressure. Clodded arteries are a common problem. My dad had a quadruple bypass. Today he is fine and dandy.

The first two answers are incorrect. It was discovered in the 1950s (Korean war autopsies) that American TEENS already had early changes in their blood vessels consistent with Atherosclerosis. Because this problem is now ubiquitous in western civilization, experts now recommend blood pressure and cholesterol testing in 5 year olds!
Obesity, hypertension, stress, poor diet, lack of exercise, etc. contribute to CAD. Cholesterol is JUST ONE of many, many risk factors. It may be wise to see a nutritionally trained health care professional for a thorough evaluation.
Best wishes and good luck.

This is not common but poor eating habits, no exercise, high blood pressure and stress all contribute to stress on the body and the development of coronary artery disease. You can fix most of this stuff by exercise, proper diet and control of blood pressure and anxiety.

Heart disease can occur at any age; look at the statistics of young athletes who die every year of heart disease on the playing field. Heart disease can also go undiagnosed or misdiagnosed for a long time. Talk to a doctor.
