girl?

princess party (where everyone dresses up as their favorite disney character), black&white party, hippie party (where they can tie-dye a white shirt as a party favor), ice-skating, etc.

boy?

pirates, superheros, transformers.

generally whatever the child has an interest in. any favorite movie can be turned into a great party!

once i had a "horse" party where people dressed up as english or western riders. we played little games & my parents hired someone to bring a pony to our front yard and give pony rides. try to involve your child in the decisions... they'll let you know what they like!

but 11 is middle-schoolish, so at that age they're especially sensitive to embarassment. you can do something easy... like go out bowling, puttputt, or have a barbque picnic at a park. your local library will actually have books for checkout with plenty of cute party ideas.

It will be extremely valuable so that you can know to start with what exactly are these varieties which you could chose from in advance of deciding on the invitation that you will use for the party. You can also visit: http://tiny.cc/Children-Parties

depending on there interests.. maybe a tv show/ fav band.
in different area's kids develope fast and slow. as in knowing whats "out there".
think of the differnt sport they are into.. like basket ball ect..
even if they into cars/bratz..
make it something interesting that all his/her friends will enjoy.
dress up parties might be a little young. but are really fun :P
hope you enjoy the party.

Its depending upon the gender. If it's a boy make it as scoppy and wondered creations and then for girls make it mild and lovable.
