I have a vegan cookbook and it calls for all kinds of vegan items that I can't find at regular grocery stores. Where do I find 100% vegan food items such as cheese, butter, and mayo. Coconut oil, arrowroot and rice milk.

Real Canadian Superstore sells all of those things - I've bought them at Superstore in 5 different Ontario cities, including a city of 4000 people, so I know you can get it in a college town like London. Make sure you go into the health food/organics section for the rice milk, vegan margarine, 'cheese' and Nayonaise. The cheese might also be in the produce area with the tofu.

Coconut oil and arrowroot are available in the international foods aisle and the flours aisle.

i don't know if they're in ontario, but there's planet earth in western canada. you can find coconut oil and arrowroot at any Indian grocery store (which i imagine wouldn't be too hard to find in or near london) and you'd be surprised at the number of great vegan products there too. also try chinese supermarkets for rice milk or soya derived products. ive found vegan cheese, vegan meat, vegan fish etc. at overwaitea/saveonfoods so try another major grocery store. also, always read ingredients because you may find out that something is vegan even if it hasn't been listed as so (and they usually say if there is a risk that it has been in contact with eggs, dairy, etc.) good luck :)

Call the store you're considering, and ask them. They'll have guidelines regarding how far in advance they'd like to have the order in, and that's probably dependant on how large of an order it is. I seriously doubt a grocery store will provide you free samples, but it never hurts to ask. If they won't provide you samples, then simply order a small amount of whatever you're considering, then use that to make your decisions. Also, considering the size of your order, remember that everything is negotiable--don't be afraid to ask for discounts since you're ordering so much, or ask for a discount for ordering farther in advance, etc. Just remember to negotiate, and then remember to get everything in writing! Good luck to you!

This IS strange as I'm on "USA QUESTIONS ONLY" category -- are you? If so, why post this question here -- it's not the "ENGLISH QUESTIONS ONLY" --- I don't think that category thing works very well.
