I've really only eaten fish that I've caught myself- trout and perch, some catfish. I like all of those, especially pan fried. But I'd like to start eating fish for the health benefits. Any tips?

I don't mean to offend if none of you eat fish. ;o)

I always have some Crumbed Fish Burgers or Fillets in the freezer, for a quick no prep. fish fix. They are genuine pieces of fillet.

Some Fingers are also fillets.
Other fingers and pieces are often just fish mush and the fish cakes seem to be mainly fish flavoured potato mash.

I also like to have a few fillets for cooking fish pies, or Fish 'n Chips.

Lately we have been getting whole small flounders and sole which are a person sized serving.

I love grilled or broiled salmon, done with just a brush of olive oil, a sprinkling of dill and some salt and pepper. Salmon is great on the grill done on cedar planks too - adds a really nice flavor. If you have leftovers, it's nice on top of a salad the next day. I also love to make salmon patties and crab cakes - another nice way to get more seafood into your diet. Have you tried poaching fish? That's really good too - I like cod done that way, with a touch of lemon and old bay seasoning...yum! Sushi and sashimi is another way to incorporate it in - there are a lot of fresh varieties of that out there.
Shrimp/scallops/mussels/clams are great with garlic, olive oil, and a bit of white wine and/or veggie broth. Toss in some fresh herbs, simmer and then toss with freshly cooked pasta - omg, that's pure heaven!
I hope that helps inspire you a bit - I love all kinds of seafood and try to eat it often!

Look for those kind of fish in the supermarket and google for simple pan-frying recipes. Then work your way up to fancier recipes.

You'd probably have better luck posting this in a regular food & drink category than the vegetarian section.

There is no such thing as a vegetarian that eats fish.
