I've been coughing since last week. I cough up thick green phlegm all day long.

My lungs feel inflamed and my throat is always scratchy.

Please don't suggest I go to a doctor or clinic, because I can't afford to do either.

I'm looking for a natural way to get better.

A cold is a virus,, there is no way natural or medicinal to get rid of a cold. A Dr can give you medications that can help treat your symptoms & help you feel more comfortable untill you heal but otherwise you simply must wait.
If you are sure it's just a cold,,, 7 - 10 days is normal time period to be waiting.
Lots of fluids, water will help loosen the phlegm & make it easier to cough up,, honey,,, is a natural cough suppresent,, 1-2 teaspoons every 4-6 hrs and if your stomach is sick at either end try sticking to the B.R.A.T diet.
Banana's,Rice,Applesauce,Toast. easy for your GI tract.

Hope you feel better soon.

i had that too, my thoat was sore because i was coughing so much though.. it wasnt a symptom on its own, so idk if its the same. but it turned out that i had a lung infection. my health insurence took care of it and everything was gone after taking a pill a day for four days. so thats what i suggest.. but if its just a common cold, you could try drinking some orange juice, putting your head over a bowl of hot water and put a towel over your head, drinking tea and a lot of water, getting more than enough sleep, if you just dont want to spend a lot of money then simple cold medicine or decongestant stuff is only about 3-5 dollars. if you want a natural way then try looking for some cold stuff at a wild oats store, they have natural medicine there

First of all, Cold has to go thru' its course..Since in day to day we have to work for a living and cant rest (Sleep in bed and drink lot of fluids is the best medicine) .

We can reduce the symptoms by following these :

1. Take a tomato and cut it into small dices. then take a pot and add a tsp of oil to it and then add a tsp of cumin seeds and then drop these tomato dices immediately. Cover and Simmer and let the tomato pieces cook till SOFT. Then uncover, add a 1 1/2 cups of water and let it boil on HIGH flame. Once the whole thing boils, add about 1/2 tsp of salt and 1/4 tsp of BLACK PEPPER POWDER. Then turn the stove off after boiling for a MINUTe more. Then drink this HOT SOOTHING liquid immediately like a SOUP. This is a best medicine used in SOUTH INDIA for COLD. If you can find a herb called TURMERIC add it to this as it acts as a
NATURAL ANTIBIOTIC.

2. Take Ginger and remove the skin and dice into tiny pieces. Take a tablespoon of Honey and add it to a tbsp of diced ginger peices and eat it. It works well for cough. Also Ginger tea is very very good for cough. Also Honey Lemon tea is good.

3. Secondly, take a Facial Tissue and add 1 - 2 drops of Eucalyptus oil. Keep smelling this time to time as I reduces the feeling of pressue and it helps a lot as it loosens up any mucus.

4. Vicks Vaporub is another excellent source for cold and cough. Boil a pot of water on high till very hot and add a pinch of vicks vaporub to the Steam and inhale this and it is really good.

There are community health clinics that help those with out health insurance.

I have no medical insurance coverage myself. Most hospitals offer financial assistance programs for those in need.

Go to your hospitals urgent care department. Then when the bill comes in just say you don't have medical insurance.

Save your past 3 months bank statements, 3 last paychecks, and a copy of last years tax return. That shows that your poor.

I do this every 6 months. It helps.

Stay in bed under the warm covers, keep a beanie cap on to minimize body heat loss through your head, drink plenty of liquids, especially orange juice, and most important, eat plenty of chicken noodle soup, which has ingredients that are beneficial to fighting the common cold.

Drink plenty of fluids like pineaple juice with a pinch of salt, have enough rest and clean your nasal cavity with clean water often as often as it is clogged. If it is more than 2 weeks or you get some difficulty of breathing I suggest you get a professional help.

Take lots of vitamin C. You can't really overdose on it. When you're up to your natural tolerance limit, it acts as a laxative. Also, drink lots of fluids.
