My husband and I are flying from Germany to the U.S., and I've already made sure that we're under the customs limit, so that's no problem.

What should I pack the wine in, and how should I pack them, so that they don't break on the way over?

Well they lost our luggage, so we won't know if I packed the wine right until they find it...so I guess this question is going up for vote. If anyone checks in, thanks for your answers!

No not in your luggage - will fail the new security liquid limits. A wine box will be best - especially if the dividers are still in it - if not wrap ever bottle in paper so they dont rub and reinforce the bottom and top with lots of tape! Go to the nearest store that sells wine and ask that they hold some of their boxes that the wine arrives in. These boxes have the little square separators in them and you can kind of manipulate your different sizes of bottles by inserting bits of newspaper over the necks of the bottles. Styrofoam cups upended over the tops of the necks help too.
Good luck!
Thanks

I would advise against it. It is not a good idea, you may be charged custom fees in the US. Regulations can change from day to day. There is a good possibility, that they may confiscate the wine during the security check.

When I sent my wine to China, we wraped it in bubble wrap. Then find the right size box and put new paper in the sides of it.

I have some polystyrene cannisters that wine has been shipped to me in, so they can be bought. But if they're hard to find, plenty of bubblewrap in boxes filled with shredded paper or straw ought to be good enough.

I wrapped my bottles with my clothes. Especially jeans. I used my shoes to stuff between the bottles. Don't forget to make sure the bottom and top have wrapping.

Take them to a packaging store and get them to pack it up for you. They are professionals and know what they're doing. Its better to be safe than sorry. This way, you know that they will not break!

Make sure you pack them tight. Try wrapping the bottles in clothes or towels. Also keep them in your carry on if that is at all possible.

Pack them in a box, with lots of padding, such as foam or polystirine chips.
