Repeated tastings. You build up a tolerance. That's why adults can handle much spicier foods than children, typically.

Spicy food requires a decent gall bladder and a digestive system not prone to ulcers, spasms, and diverticulitis.
Down here in south Louisiana, "spicy" is a way of life. My wife, with her spasm-prone stomach, has violent (negative) reactions to some things.
Myself, I've been lucky so far. I can handle Szechuan peppers, white pepper, black pepper, paprika, and chile peppers OK. The cayenne pepper and many types of other peppers do nothing worse than give me gas.(Of course, my poor suffering wife says breathing gives me gas...).
There is only one pepper that gives me a really negative reaction. I run into it now and then with Mexican cuisine but rarely any other time. I wish I knew which one it was.

Actually hot spicy food will make the mucus run no matter what. Some are more runny then others.

I've been eating really spicy food since I was 2 so I've been "trained" to eat it. I'm Korean and most of our food is pretty spicy. I think you have to eat it from an early age for your body to handle it properly.

Black is whats in the blood; its how we flow, its in our speech and colloquialisms, our humorous handshakes, and our enormous "rollin' eyes. Its in how we've attitudes on the drop of a dime, yet love so no longer straight forward with plenty pastime, and then its as quickly as we are lost and don't understand what we could like. Its our lips that are enjoyed and hated, yet in lots of cases imitated, its our enormous mac butts, and cocoa butter smelling pores and skin. the adult men and their sensual sexiness, their training that fits ours. Its the harm that has slipped in and has never left us. Thats what makes a black individual black. the certainty that we've been whipped and can stand tall in spite of everything.

Don't start to spicy/hot to begin with if you're not used to it. Eat cucumbers/plain yoghurt on the side...

some people build up a tolerance, some use tricks. milk with a meal to curb stomach burning, or orange juice to kill the burn in the mouth.
