Why not bring some homemade fudge - this recipe does not take long to make. You can dress this fudge up by sprinkling colored sugars or candy decorations on it while it is still warm.
Irish Crème Fudge
I also use other liqueurs in place of the Irish Creme such as Kahlua, bandy, Kirsch, spiced/flavored rum and the new flavors of Kahlua mixing and matching nuts, coconut and dried fruits to match the liqueurs. If you do not want to use liqueur, substitute 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract.
3 sticks of butter (3/4 pound)
3 cups sugar
2/3 cup evaporated milk
1 7-ounce jar Kraft marshmallow crème
12 ounce bag semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 bottle (airline size or nip) or 1 shot Irish Crème
2 cups walnuts or pecans - optional
2 8-inch square pans sprayed with non-stick spray
In a heavy 3 quart sauce pan - I prefer an enameled cast iron -melt butter, sugar and evaporated milk. Bring to a boil, turn down heat to a low boil and cook for 5 minutes.
Turn off heat and mix in marshmallow crème. Once that is incorporated, mix in the chocolate chips until mixture is an even chocolate color then add the Irish crème and nuts, mixing thoroughly.
Pour mixture into pans and cool thoroughly before cutting into squares and serving.

you could bake Jiffy Cinnamon Rolls. They are fast and really really good! They are in the Company's Coming Muffins and More book.
Jiffy Cinnamon Rolls
2 cups flour
2 Tbsp. sugar
4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/4 cup cold butter
Blend these ingredients together until crumbly, make well in center and add
1 cup cold milk. Mix dough, turn out of floured space and knead about 8-10 times.
Roll into 12" long recatangle about 1/3 inch thick.
Filling:
1/3 cup butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
3 tsp. cinnamon
1/3 cup raisins or currants if desired.
Mix together first 3 ingredients, place 1 tsp. of filling in bottom of each of the 12 well sprayed or greased muffin tins. Spread the remaining filling on the recangle of dough and roll as a jelly roll. Mark, then cut roll into 12 even rolls and place cut side down in the muffin tins. Bake 375° for 18-20 min.
When cooked, turn out on rack to cool. Yummy!
Good luck, happy holidays, and have fun!!!

How about a beautiful Poinsettia? Or a nice bottle of Baily's Irish Creme or Kahlua for after dinner. You can also find some limited edition artisan wines, such as a late harvest Gerverztraminer or White Muscat, also for after dinner sipping.

There are some party games where people ask each other questions. I think it's called TABLE TOPICS. It's a great conversation starter and keeper. There are questions like:

are you a romantic?
what is the most romantic thing you have done?
what are you favorite shoes and why?
what is your favorite song? why? sing a few lines

tell your experience with tattoos
what is your favorite holiday and why
describe a favorite meal
how are you different from your friends?
how are you similar to your friends?
do you have any hand me downs?
if you were an animal which would it be?
how superstituous are you?
whistle a memorable tv theme song
one thing i would most like to change about myself is
what is the messiest room in your house? describe it
what is your favorite smell?
what did you wear to your high school prom?
are you a back seat driver?
how long has it been since you're eaten fast food?
how often do you arrive on time for appointments?
tell us about your favorite family vacations?
if you were on a stranded island, choose one person?
choose one type of food.

Probably too late now, but I would have went with the wine, and perhaps a fruit basket, or Xmas flower centerpiece, or a Poinsetta to be given as a Hostess gift.

i always keep a supply of hostess gifts on hand for such an occasion. i suggest T.J.Maxx, look for inexpensive wine glasses, candle sticks, picnic accessories, picture frames or vases. I never show up without my small token. It is nice that you bring wine, but to answer your question try my idea along with what you currently do.
