I have type two diabetes and for it take two cholesterol tablets daily, two blood pressure tablets daily and a major tranqueliser daily.

I have my blood checked every six weeks.

This last time, one of my enzymes was high. I can't remember which one exactly it was but it was something like ATP.

I am a little freaked out. I mean, what is the point of taking medication if the medication is going to kill me.

Anyway, does anybody know anything about this and have an answer for me? Thanks.

ATP refers to liver function, and is almost always a bit elevated when you take statins for cholesterol, that is why they test your blood, to make sure the liver function levels don't go too high, as they didn't stop your cholesterol medication, then the level was within acceptable limits.

I would suggest you get a book...."NO More Heart Disease" by Dr. Louis Ignarro. He won a Nobel prize for medicine for his work in heart disease, and that does also apply to Diabetes....you may just learn a great deal, even more than your doctor may know at this point. It is a book well worth reading, not long, not hard to read, but packed with information that you will find useful as a Diabetic. I too am diabetic, and I have gotten off the statins, off the blood pressure medicine AND of the diabetes meds too.

Depends on which enzyme level you mean. When your pancreas is involved, sometimes the enzyme balance gets off it's normal level. The high reading is usually an indication of a problem in that area of the body. If at all possible, try to regulate your health better with diet and exercise with the hope that you can get off of some of those medications. I'm sure everyone here will say that same thing. It's a difficult thing to do but some medications do damage to our bodies and you have to decide which symptoms make it worth it. Medications are often processed through the liver and can cause that area to be sick as well. Have a discussion with your doctor about the risks of these medications and what you maybe could do without.

It is routine for patients taking statins (cholesterol lowering drugs) to have a regular liver function test (LFT). This measures various enzymes produced by the liver and can show up liver problems. There isn't a liver enzyme called ATP, but there is one called ALT and one called ALP. ALT can rise in patients on statins but you shouldn't worry too much as the whole point of regular testing is to detect any liver problems BEFORE they become serious. Only if your ALT became seriously high (more than 3 times the normal range) your GP would reduce or change the type of cholesterol lowering medication you are taking. For patients with your medical history, controlling your diabetes, keeping your BP under control and reducing your cholesterol will ensure you have a good long life, so keep taking the tablets! However, discuss you concerns with your doctor so you can be reassured about your blood results.

Glow wings, The idea of "busy" could apply both to the devil's work or the work of the Lord. The video tends to place a great deal on the idea of Materialism (which is the product of working in the devil's favor and things we think makes us happy). The aspect of working toward what glorifies God is a fear of the enemy. It often depends on the person and how materialistic they are. The whole doctrine of "doom and gloom" is a detrimental aspect of positive change, as it fosters hopelessness, where it should inspire hope. I have always found that those who preach it are really not ready for such an event to actually happen. They are the harbingers of fear and confusion in others who are ignorant of facts. They are would-be prophets that are more responsible for damning souls by claiming biblical errors of (and by) their own personal interpretation. If one is prepared, they have no fear, but rather welcome the end of the world and all of it's vain trappings. The video was not presenting any earth-shattering news, as this difference has been in existence since the beginning of time. Each person may know what the fruit of their labor is by the outcome of that labor. Idle hands are the tool of the devil, but a soul that busies itself with holy work does not make time for the devil to gain any advantage. God Bless You.

You are not taking anything for your diabetes and you are not testing daily ?

You need a better doctor.

Find a good endocrinologist.

Good luck.
