It is the use of wireless instruments to send information from inside the body to a receiver outside the body.

Internal sensors inside pick up pressures, temperatures, flows, sounds etc., and convert them into electrical signals which are then fed into a miniature transmitter and relayed to the external receiver, where they are decoded.
