My belief is that God created us with brains so that we could be self-reliant. We've grown and learned so much since mankind first inhabited the Earth. Yes, they do really know that we are going to run out. Oil is a fossil fuel... which comes from dead plants and animals from thousands and thousands of years ago. It is not a non-renewable resource in that there will never be anymore oil. It is considered non-renewable because it takes thousands of years for plant and animal matter to become oil. We are pumping it out of the ground and using it WAY faster than it can be renewed. Yes, we will eventually run out, without a doubt. It is because God created us with the ability to learn, that we've learned just how dangerous burning fossil fuels can be to the atmosphere. Our atmosphere can handle so much, and sort of "fix" the problem...that is, if we weren't consuming so much, so quickly, and putting more greenhouse gases in the atmosphere than it can handle. God wants us to turn to him, definitely. But he also wants us to use the brains he gave us. Assuming that we can wreak havoc on this planet and "God will fix it" is what is asanine. He doesn't just snap his fingers and "poof"...everything is all good. God's way of "fixing" the problem is through us...those of us who really want to make a difference and turn the problem around. Unfortunately, too many people do not realize just how bad it is.

to reduce WORLDWIDE CO2 emissions by 40% under 1990 levels, the Koyoto Protocol target, will require building 4,000 nuclear fueled power plants , one a day for the next 10 years.
or reduce the planets population by 30%.
your choice?
