People can die from too much of anything, food included. However, most people consider cigarettes and alcohol to be the most deadly "legal" products out on the market today. Cigarettes have been known to cause lung cancer, emphysema and numerous other respiratory problems, including death. So yes, smoking too many cigarettes can kill you.

Alcohol on the other hand has been proven to be healthy when used in moderation. But just like everything else, it can eventually kill you when it is overused.

Heavy drinking and smoking will put your mom at increased risk for throat and laryngeal cancer. My mom was a heavy drinker and smoker and I found out after she was diagnosed with the cancer that those are the big risk factors. People with this kind of cancer have to have a permanent hole in their throat to breathe through, and they sometime lose the ability to speak and have to use esophageal speech or a little electronic gadget instead.

I am not saying this to scare you or upset you. You probably already know that you can't change your mom's behavior.
What you can do is look for some signs, like a persistent sore throat, a persistent hoarse voice, a lump on the side of her neck, or lots of sinus and ear and throat infections. If your mom starts having some of these signs, she needs to see a doctor.

Best of luck to you, my dear, I will be sending you love and strength.

The answer is yes, you can die from too much drinking and smoking. Drinking can affect the liver and smoking can hurt the lungs of the smoker and the people around them. Smoking can cause lung cancer, emphysema and heart disease.

You telling your Mom these things may just make her angry. She may need to hear it from a doctor. How old are you?

Take care and don't start smoking or drinking...ok?

Certainly. If you are a smoker, the odds are 1 in 3 that it will kill you, and if it does, it will be singularly unpleasant. I have no comparable statistic for drinking.

It can lead to health problems, which can lead to early death. these are two of the most toxic substances, according to biological research. it is amazing that these are legal, while less toxic substances are illegal. it helps that those who created the laws were running tobacco farms and drinking heavily. hmmm

Yes - alcohol poisoning can kill.

Smoking cannot kill nearly so quickly (people die from the complications which set in after regular tobacco use depresses their immune systems, damages their cellular structure and creates a cancerous growth, damages their lungs, et cetera).

Mmm... time for a cigarette and another beer.

I don't understand your question. What do you mean "too much"? Is this possible with these two products? Are you trying to give booze a bad name by saying it's possible for too much booze?
