Here's the deal. All of my grandparents have diabetes, most of my aunts and uncles have it, some of my cousins have it. Type 1 and Type 2. Neither of my parents have diabetes yet.
For the last month I have felt weird. I'm constantly thirsty no matter how much I drink I'm still thirtsy. I'm hungry all the time. I urinate more often then most. Sometimes my vision gets fuzzy, when that happens I get REALLY sleepy and just don't feel right. I've also started sweating at night while I'm asleep. I sweat so much that the sheets are soaked. I feel tired and run down all the time.
In the past when I've gotten fasting blood work done my sugars have been fine. (On the low side of normal.)
Did this happen to anyone who was diagnosed with diabetes? What were your signs/symptoms? Does this even sound like it could be diabetes?
Yes, I know only a doctor can tell me if it's diabetes or not. Just looking for insight and advice.

Those symptoms sound exactly like what I had but it's odd that the blood tests aren't showing it. Maybe you should try to do some home tests on your own to get a good idea of what your glucose is doing throughout the day. With your family history it is the most likely cause of these symptoms. See if you can check for Ketones in your urine. Do some blood sugar tests an hour after a meal and then again another hour later. Check when you are feeling really bad and also try a couple of fasting numbers. You really should be seeing numbers hovering around 100 or even lower. Close to meal times the numbers may spike but if you do not have diabetes even at these times they should regulate themselves.

With your family history of diabetes and the symptoms you are have sounds very much like diabetes.
I am type 2 diabetic and so is my husband. I had the symptoms of hunger, fuzzy vision, being very sleepy. So fatigued most of the time. Before my husband was diagnosed, he stayed thirsty all the time. It seemed that he could not get enough water. He was and still is hungry all the time. That is the diabetic crave.
I would suggest that if some of your family members has a blood glucose monitor, that you check your blood glucose before you eat breakfast and two hours after a meal for a few days. This will give you an idea how your blood glucose is running. Normal at fasting is: 60 - 120. If any of your readings are over that, or if they are running lower than 60; you really need to take your numbers to your doctor so he can run an A1C test to see how your blood sugar has been running for the last three month.
I wish you the very best. Hve a blessed day!

No...you do not need a doctor for this one. I am a nurse, I am diabetic, many of my friends are diabetic, even my father in law is diabetic.
So are you.
You need a 24 hour Glucose Tolerance Test. You might try getting blood sugar tests at the times when you are sleepy and also about 45 minutes after eating (160+ once, or 125+ twice, is enough for a diagnosis of diabetes).

Sounds like you may very well be in the diabetes family at this point. Depending on how old you are, some peri-menopausal symptoms coincide with what you describe, especially the night sweats, fuzzy headed ness, and being tired. Go see your doc asap.

Yes, all of the symptoms you describe tell me you are a diabetic....but without going to a doctor you can confirm this diagnosis......go see one of the people you know who has diabetes and ask them to lend you some of the strips to check their blood gloucous eat before testing... then time exactly one half hour....within a half hour your blood glouchous should be normal or a reading of 120 or less...if not you have diabetes....
Good luck

Go to a doctor! My eye doctor thought I had diabetes in the 3rd grade because my eyesight suddenly turned very bad. The test came out negative. That story comes to show you that you may have symptoms and not even have diabetes!

Yup that sounds like diabetes to me. If it hasnt developed you're on the verge of it. Watch out for what you eat. And go to the doctor ASAP.

Your symptoms sound exactly like mine... when my blood sugar is high. You sweat when you sleep because your metabolism is raised in order to try to lower your blood sugar. FASTING blood work is often useless, I question why your Dr. didn't go further than that.
