You are suffering from dust allergy, is a possible assumption. If you have these symptoms after taking Atenolol, please contact your doctor.

It could be making it worse, sounds like if you taking something for you allergies and it is making it worse then you should discontinue using the medicine and ask a doctor if you have a sinus infection, that is the only thing that i could think of and if you do have and infection then the only thing that will stop it is antibiotics, where you atenolol only blocks histamines which trigger allergies.

There's a good website www.askapatient.com and people rate the meds they've taken and talk about side effects. I find this a very valuable site. I took metronidazole and had some horrible side effects. All the drug sites I looked up said that that med had relatively few. When I looked it up on askapatient, there were100s of people that were having the same problems I was having. And they too, had been told by pharmacists and such that it wasn't from the med. It's always good to know what ACTUALLY happens to regular people. Good luck and let your doctor know too.

Side effects of Atenolol are:

You may experience dizziness, lightheadedness, drowsiness, tiredness, nausea, diarrhea, unusual dreams, leg pain, or vision problems as your body adjusts to the medication. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

This drug may reduce blood flow to your hands and feet, causing them to feel cold. Smoking may worsen this effect. Dress warmly and avoid tobacco use.

Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.

Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: symptoms of a very slow heartbeat (e.g., persistent dizziness, fainting, unusual fatigue), bluish discoloration of the fingers and toes, numbness/tingling/swelling of the hands or feet, decreased sexual ability, reversible hair loss, mental/mood changes, joint changes, butterfly-shaped rash on the nose and cheeks, trouble breathing, cough, unexplained or sudden weight gain, increased thirst, increased urination.

Tell your doctor immediately if any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: easy bruising or bleeding, persistent sore throat or fever.

In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing.

This is not a complete list of possible side effects. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

hm, could be psychological..

shortness of breath could be a sign your dosage is too high, as it can constrict breathing and cause bronchospasms.
