An abnormal sound coming from your heart beating is known as murmur. It can be due to valves, hole in heart etc.

Please disregard first responder- not completely correct. A heart murmur is a sound that is heard when the heart sounds are being listened to through a stethoscope. Many people have murmurs, some are simply the sound of bloodflow across the valves (also called an innocent murmur), some murmurs do represent some structural abnormaility that creates irregular bloodflow creating that "murmur" or sound. The only way to be sure is to have an echocardiogram (like an ultrasound of the heart), a painless and non-invasive imaging study without radiation.

a heart murmur is an additional sound over and above the normal "lubb dubb", which is heard by using a stethoscope or indicated on ECG.
it is actually nothing more than a sound, and it wouldn't hurt.
The cause is complicated, so i'm regret to say i'll skip it.
I had heart murmur when i was a babe. i turned blue at that time, turned out that i had some heart problems. But i was cured.
anyway, you will not die from heart murmur, it's normal for some babies, and even some teenagers.

My daughter had a heart murmur when she was born. Her cardiologist explained to me that she had 3 leaky valves which cause abnormal heart rhythms. He did explain to me that as she gets older, they would eventually heal. She's 8 years old now and her heart is perfectly fine!

It's when your heart doesn't beat in a rhythm like most peoples. Something in the valves aren't working right.

it's when your heart beats irregularly. most people don't feel it though, but it can be dangerous because it affects the heart's processes and blood flow to the rest of the body and organs.
