Do you know of any facewash and lotion or soaps for adults and babies that don't use animal glycerin or gelatin in them that are common in the supermarket or drugstores? I have always had problems finding a good product again in other stores.

Try Lush or the more expensive Bnevertoobusytobebeautiful, both are available online or in shops.

Try Co-Op. Most of their own brand cosmetics etc. are approved by BUAV which means they are not tested on animals and they don't have any animal ingredients. I buy a lot of stuff from there as they're also really good at labeling their food and drink to say it's Vegan. You could also try Lush, plenty of branches across the country, or http://www.animalaid.org.uk has a brilliant range of products you can buy on line for home delivery including the Beauty Without Cruelty Range.

Hope that helps,

H.

Hi, go to caringconsumer.com and send away for a free shopping guide. It lists products of all kinds that are veg*n and it's small enough for you to carry around with you when you shop. They also have a listing of companies that do and do not test on animals and lots of other info.

If you are interested in low cost stuff a few I can think of are: White Rain--Shampoo, conditioner and other hair care products (they are comparable to Suave, but do not test on animals or use animal ingredients), body soap & lotion.....

Make up & more, E.L.F., Wet and Wild, Avon (check ingredients as some may be animal, but they do not do animal testing)

Seventh Generation makes diapers and baby wipes

Method (usually at Target)

As someone else mentioned Whole Foods/Wild Oats carry veg*n products.

You can get animal free ingredients at craft stores to make your own stuff like soap, just be sure to read labels.

There's Lush, an all vegetarian (mostly vegan) company.

Beauty Without Cruelty--available in natural foods stores

J/A/S/O/N--available in natural foods stores

Kiss My Face has vegan items.

Danielle and Company (soaps), which I discovered at Green Festival.

You might want to check out VegFamily and www.vegweb.com for resources as well.

And check out www.veganessentials.com and www.veganstore.com to find all sorts of vegan products.

If you're in London, go to the Hare Krsna temple community book store in SOHO and you'll probably find a few useful things there. If you're anywhere else look for a Hare Krsna temple community shop or try Ayurvedic products. The Hare Krsna products are guaranteed to be 100% animal-free.:)

The brand I see most often in grocery and drug stores is Kiss My Face. I don't know for sure if all their products are vegan, but several state explicitly on the back that they are made with no animal ingredients and no animal testing. Jason and ShiKai are easy for me to find as well. Zuzu Luxe is an all-vegan (I believe... they may have mascaras that aren't) cosmetic line that you can find at Whole Foods.

Green People products are ideal; I know from your spelling and other clues :) that you're not British, and I've no idea if you can buy them in supermarkets where you are (you can get some of them in Sainsburys in the UK), but you can get them online.
http://www.greenpeople.co.uk

They have a child and baby range too.

Your best bet is to make your own products, using simple, inexpensive things. I make a facewash with a little castile soap, a few drops of fresh lemon juice in it. Powdered oatmeal (you can pulse it in a blender to make it fine enough) makes a great facial mask. For an astringent, I use half water/half hydrogen peroxide (my 13 year old vegetarian daughter uses these products too, and her skin is MUCH clearer and nicer than most of her friends) For hair conditioner, we use a little virgin coconut oil, which we also use as an all over body moisturizer. Pure shea butter is a great moisturizer too. For hair gel, I mix a little agar agar (a seaweed based thickener, found in health food stores) with warm water and apply it to my damp hair-works great! For lipgloss, I mix a little powdered beet root powder with shea butter. It adds a hint of color and really plumps your lips nicely. For toothpaste, I make a paste of baking soda, peroxide, and a drop of peppermint oil. I like KNOWING whats in my personal care products. Feel free to email me if you need more info.

Have you shopped at Wild Oats or Whole Foods? Chain organic grocery stores. Whole Foods now owns Wild Oats.

Arbonne is not available in stores, but it's pretty good stuff and vegan. You can buy it from a sales rep (liek Avon or Mary Kay) or I believe you can get it online.
