Im almost positive i have hypoglycemia. I got my blood checked recently and it was 70. The doctor said it was right by the "border line" of being low and that i MAY have hypoglycemia. Is this low?

70 is most definitely not "low". True, it's on the low end of "normal", but it's hardly low. The further you get below 70, the more likely these symptoms are to show up:
* Shakiness, anxiety, nervousness, tremor
* Palpitations, tachycardia
* Sweating, feeling of warmth
* Pallor, coldness, clamminess
* Dilated pupils
I've been at 68 with only mild shakiness and anxiety.

Note: If you consistently run high glucose (hyperglycemia) and should suddenly come down to, say, 80 or so, you could easily get some of the symptoms of hypo. But, for non diabetics, 70 should not present any abnormal symptoms.

Low blood sugar is typically under 70. You and your doctor should determine what your normal range should be. (Mine is 80-100, but I am on an insulin pump.) I consider anything above 140 as high. However, it is dangerous when you are over 200 as you can go into ketoacidosis (found by testing for ketones in your urine). Also, long term effects of poor blood sugar control indicate that one could have problems with his/her eyes, heart, kidneys, or could require amputation of an extremity. Again, though, talk with your doctor so that you can decide what is best for you. If you don't have a diabetic specialist (an endocrinologist), I would highly recommend seeing one. They specialize in diabetes and will be much more atuned to things than a Primary Care Physician or Generalist. It is normal to experience hypoglycemia. The important thing is that you continue to monitor your blood sugars before each meal, 2 hours after each meal, at bed time, periodically test in the middle of the night, and always test before driving anywhere. If your blood sugar is below 70, you will need 15 grams of fast acting carbohydrates (can be found in Orange Juice, Soda Pop, glucose tablets, etc.). Wait 15 minutes and re-test. Your blood sugar should be above 70. If it is not, re-treat with 15 grams of fast acting carbs, wait another 15 minutes and re-test. I would recommend that you seek some diabetes education classes. They are quite helpful and beneficial, for newly diagnosed diabetics and for those who have been diabetic for quite some time. Review your blood sugar readings with your doctor. You should be able to identify trends and adjust your insulin and/or food intake accordingly. Hang in there! Good luck to you.

it is low, it's not dangerously low but it is low. usually blood sugar levels range from 80 - 120. How do you feel with a blood sugar of 70, any dizziness or lightheadedness, if not then that is your normal. If you do feel dizzy and your doctor thinks that you do have hypoglycemia you should always walk with a piece of hard candy in your purse or a small snack. that way if you feel dizzy you will have something to eat and it will help raise your blood sugar level.

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.

Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

All medical info I looked into said 70-120 is normal. Mine runs 70, but if I have sugar, I get a quick boost, then I feel really bad. I control my diet, don't eat refined sugars, only a bit of honey sometimes. When it's too long between meals, I do get shakey and feel faint. I don't test, I just know. 70 is borderline. That's why if I don't eat, I do feel it. Took me awhile to get over the craving for sweets, as that's your brain, saying, "Feed me". But those sweets are not the answer. Proper diet and snacks are.

my son's blood sugar was 32 when he got his checked. He does have hypoglycemia.
70, does not sound low to me at all. I am a type 1 and take meds, diabetic.
You have seen your Dr. just continue to follow it. If you experience any thing different, like dizziness, anger out bursts, moodiness, excessive tiredness, you need to get re-checked again.
Stay in touch with your Dr. i mean, if they have no follow up visit scheduled for you, make one in a month or so if you still feel concerned.
