I'm assuming you mean genital herpes. It's having the herpes virus on your genitals rather than the usual cold sore on your mouth. However, they are the same virus family and can be transmitted from one place to the other.

if you mean genital herpes, its a viral form of herpes that is considered a venereal disease and is easily transmitted to partners. It can be very painful and the sores can show up just about anywhere on your body. Valtrex is commonly used to treat the symptoms, I don't believe there is a cure yet. Low immune system function and stress can trigger outbreaks as far as I know, once you have the virus in your system.
Think 'cold sores on your genitals'. That will give you a rough idea. If you think you have it, visit a clinic and get medication to help you control it, and always, always use protection during sexual activity. Don't forget a sore on the genital can get to the mouth and vice versa. If there's a nerve ending and skin, you can get a sore on it.....
good luck.

It is a virus that sits in the base of the spine and manifests in the form of an outbreak in the genital region (usually red spots that look like a rash or blisters).

Not all people that carry the genital herpes virus have physical symptoms though, some people have little or no symptoms at all and are thus unaware they are carrying the virus and may pass the virus on unknowingly. You don't have to exhibit physical symptoms to be contagious.

There are 2 types of genital herpes, HSV type 1 (usually contracted via oral sex from someone who is prone to cold sores) and HSV type 2 which is contracted via sexual intercourse or skin to skin contact.

I am absolutely terrified and I feel so alone. I just found out last week that I tested positive for hsv1 and 2. I have been with the same man for the past 10 years and within the last year found out that he has cheated on me with numerous women. I am so scared that I can give it to my children by kissing them and them eating with me...I feel like my whole life has changed. And even though the nurses, my doctor, and websites say that a lot of people have it I still feel like I am by myself. My self esteem has dropped and I feel like I have been used up. But now, My life is very happy.
