I've been getting chest pains around my whole chest area. They seem to be getting more and more painful. Right now, the whole right side of my chest (including the side, front, and back) hurts when I breathe. Could it be simply because I'm growing (I'm only 13)? Or is this something more serious?

Do you have any fever with it too? Usually with pleursy or something else, you will run a low-grade fever. It may just be a muscle spasm.

Pain when breathing isn't necessarily caused by something serious, but it is almost always caused by something that needs medical treatment. It is not one of those things that are caused by growing. The most common causes are pneumonia, and inflammation of the lining in your chest cavity (called pleurisy). You definitely need to see a doctor.

pain is always an indicator that something is wrong, tell your parents and see a doctor.
