Yeah I'm a flexitarian-vegan, and I found all the information I ever learned about animal rights from that site. But SHOULD i still trust them? Do they still do these awful things?

Just look up "PETA" in the 'search for questions' thingy that should answer some of your questions.

I am neither for nor against PETA, but I do understand that animal rescue and animal rights work is not always as simple as we would like it to be. PETA doesn't just kill animals for fun or food.
PETA euthanizes animals that they rescue, but are seriously and painfully ill. If the animal is simply going to spend the rest of its life in agony, they will put an end to it in a compassionate way. Veterinarians do this everyday, because it is often the right thing to do.
PETA also operates shelters for abandoned and abused animals. They try, like all shelters, to adopt these animals out before they run out of room. When they are not successful, they would rather some animals take a painless death than to cram thousands of animals into a space with worse conditions than those from which they were rescued. Again, shelters all over the country do this every day.
Killing animals is never pleasant, but to dismiss PETA because they participate in compassionate euthanasia is naive and sort-sighted.

I am going to assume that you were duped into believing this by a website called petakillsanimals.com. The website peta kills animals is put out by the CCF. The CCF is a front group for big tobbacco, resturaunts, meat industry, and alcohol. The Center for Consumer Freedom is a corporation run by lobbyist Richard Berman. Berman is known as a spin doctor. He misinforms, alters the truth and down right lies to get his message across.
Peta does humanly euthenize sick and injured animals(which many spca, humane societies, and shelters do as well). The reason the CCF is after Peta for euthenizing animals is because Peta has influence with people. They make some people think about their actions(ie- eating meat). The last thing the meat industry/restaurants want people to think about is where their meals come from. Since the meat industry, and resturaunts give money to the CCF they want to discredit anyone that would shine a negative light on their financial backers.
The CCF and Berman is the same man that went against the group, mothers against drunk driving(MADD) and wanted to lower the legal blood alcohol level. He goes against groups that are will impact the profits of his financial backers. The group also denies the obesity problem in the U.S. and is against Unions and a minimum wage for workers.
In Bermans own words his strategy is to "shoot the messenger ... we’ve got to attack their credibility as spokespersons "
Be careful what you read, not everything on the internet can be trusted to come from a credible source that does not have some sort of agenda behind it.

Peta puts hurt animals "down" to end suffering. Peta as an organization has done some very good things in ending animal testing and cruelty but your average person does not know just how whacky the beliefs of PETA's president are, she's against people keeping animals for pets for example, so if you have a dog you love and cherish you and PETA do not see eye to eye on everything. There is a documentary running on HBO right now called "I am Animal" that follows PETA's founder, very enlightening, I think most people would be very surprised what peta is actually all about and their money would be better donated to other animal rights/help groups.

That is a myth put out awhile ago by anti-peta groups such as the center for consumer freedom which also backs up the tobacco, alcohol, firearms, and meat industry. The quote that started it was referenced from Ingrid Newkirk who was talking about her experience working at the DC animal control center, not at PETA. PETA does not have a shelter facility in which they house pets or provide veterinary care. They use funds to help support spay and nueter programs, rescue efforts, and educational efforts. They basically act as a financial fallback for many shelters. They do however support the use of euthanasia for extremely sick or injured animals to reduce suffering. They also encourage the use of euthanasia over gas chambers but still they would never support the use of euthanasia for a healthy animal. Don't believe averything you hear especially from websites such as www.petakillsanimals.com or www.petakills.com. These are hate sites and not reputable ones.

Every SPCA, Humane Society and city/county animal control kills animal as well.
The crime is in letting animals reproduce when there are already too many in shelters and on the streets. Millions must be euthanized every year because of irresponsible "owners".
PeTA is just fulfilling their duty to the animals and ending their lives peacefully rather than letting them suffer through and die from disease, abuse or oncoming traffic.
This doesn't mean that I would give them any of my money or think that anyone else should when their are countless animal rights groups that use their money wisely.
If you call yourself a "flexitarian vegan", you are only making yourself look foolish. You're either vegetarian, vegan or omnivorous.

I didn't know they killed animals, but it doesn't really surprise me. This is an organization of political extremists. They have issued some of the most idiotic public statements I've ever seen. They protested a bar's gag promotion where if you ate a live cockroach you didn't have to pay the cover charge. PETA claimed that cockroaches are intelligent, sensitive creatures that are misunderstood and mistreated. Come on! It's a cockroach! Sure maybe the promotion was in poor taste, but saying that bugs are sensitive and intelligent.....that's going a bit off the deep end.
Either way PETA is a political lobby, and as such exists mostly for it's own ends.

PeTA is a money hungry cult, not a charity that helps animals. According to petakillsanimals.com (http://petakillsanimals.com/petasdirtysecret.cfm), in the years from 1998 to 2005, they euthanized anywhere from 72% to 90% of the animals they took in. I seriously doubt even 1/4 of them were so sick they had to be put down. I'd be willing to bet the vast majority of the thousands (yes, thousands) of animals they killed could have been adopted out.
PeTA does not care about animals. PeTA does not care about people. PeTA cares about money. Ingrid Newkirk is a cult leader and the PeTA organization is just a big bully.
P.S. It's not just CCF that is reporting PeTAs euthanasia-happy environment. The commonwealth of Virginia has also documented it.

Ingrid Newkirk is a seriously disturbed individual.

I have mixed feelings about PETA, but euthanizing when necessary (which to my knowledge is all they do) does not upset me.
