Since you like ethnic food, why don't you do a sort of ethnic potluck party. Assign each of your friends a country and ask them to bring a dish from that country and a corresponding drink or bottle.

For example........

Someone who has Japan, could bring some sushi and a bottle of saki. Some who has Greece could bring moussaka and some Ouzo. France could bring a selection of French cheeses and some Champagne etc.etc.

However, I would just assign the countries and let your friends surprise you with the food & drink.

Maybe let Italy do the dessert. Whatever. Tell them to get creative and have some fun with it. My suggestions are just off the top of my head. I bet your friends can come of with some really good stuff.

Also, you might ask them to learn a toast from their given country.

Greece = Opa
Italy = Salute

Since you are turning 24, maybe you could do a "24" theme from the show 24? I don't personally watch the show, but I know how popular it is. Hope this helps and happy birthday!

For appetizers have a decent selection of soft, medium,and hard cheeses. You can find an excellent paring of wines and cheeses at http://www.Globalchefs.com
