Asthma is a chronic inflammation of the body’s bronchial (airway) tissues. People with asthma experience shortness of breath, chest tightness, coughing and wheezing. These symptoms intensify during an asthma attack, which occurs when exposure to allergens or other stimuli further inflame the airways, leading to an inability to expel trapped air from the lungs.

Take a look at Total Health's Allergy & Asthma Center. It's filled with excellent, medically-reviewed information on this topic. I think you'll find it helpful! Take care!

Asthma is an allergy and is triggered by something. The best non medication treatment for asthma is learning your triggers and avoiding them. Common triggers are smoke, dust, mold, mildew, plants, dust mites, pets and grass/weeds.

If you can not figure our your triggers, you may need to see an allergist and have allergy screening done. This may point out your triggers.

The National Asthma Prevention Program and the Expert Panel of Diagnosis and Management of Asthma both agree if you have to use a prescription inhaler such as albuterol more then two time per week, your asthma is NOT in control and you will need a prescription controller medication.

Controller medications are steroids (Asthmacort Asthmanex, Flovent, Pulmocort), Leukotriene modifier (Singulair, Aculade, Zyflo) or mast cell stabilizers (Cromolyn sodium, Intal, Tilade).

You may want to talk to your doctor about several strong controller medications and maybe Xolair shots.

If you want a proven, all-natural way to cure your asthma, without having to pay for useless medications with harmful side-effects, then this is the most important page you'll ever read.

I most def agree with The_only_solorose & Cyberdoc!

Pleeeze get to the ER, you DO NOT need to have jaw or arm pain to rule out the heart!

PS: i would love to know the fool who gave thumbs down to the advice given so that i know not to EVER take your advice.

sounds like something more to do with the heart....Asthma attacks make it really hard to breath..REALLY HARD...You could be having some heart problems, I don't want to say it's a heart attack because of the very little symptoms that you have mentioned but to be on the safe side call your doctor or go to your emergency. this isn't something to neglect.

Since there is more than likely no one on here qualified to make a diagnosis, I would suggest, if you're telling the truth, you see your primary care giver, asap.
