in an asthma attack the muscles of the air passages in the lungs go into spasm and the linings of the airways swell. As a result, the airways become narrowed and breathing becomes difficult.

Asthma occurs when the main air passages of your lungs, the bronchial tubes, become inflamed. The muscles of the bronchial walls tighten, and cells in the lungs produce extra mucus further narrowing your airways. This can cause minor wheezing to severe difficulty in breathing. In some cases, your breathing may be so labored that an asthma attack becomes life-threatening.

Asthma is a chronic but treatable condition. You can manage your condition much like someone manages diabetes or heart disease. You and your doctor can work together to control asthma, reduce the severity and frequency of attacks and help maintain a normal, active life.

Warning signs and symptoms of asthma in adults may include:

* Increased shortness of breath or wheezing
* Disturbed sleep caused by shortness of breath, coughing or wheezing
* Chest tightness or pain
* Increased need to use bronchodilators — medications that open up airways by relaxing the surrounding muscles
* A fall in peak flow rates as measured by a peak flow meter, a simple and inexpensive device that allows you to monitor your own lung function

Asthma is a disease of the human respiratory system in which the airways narrow, often in response to a "trigger" such as exposure to an allergy, cold air, exercise, or emotional stress. This narrowing causes symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and coughing, which are the hallmarks of asthma.

Asthama is a chronic disease of the airtubes that carries out air in and out of the lungs. In this the inside walls of your airwaysare inflammed or swollen and because of the inflammation the linningsof the airways swells.
When a person comes in contact with something that irritates thier airways the muscles around the wall of the airways tighten and because of this a person feels difficulty in breathing. There are some Asthamatic triggers like house dust, tabbaco smoke Allergy etc etc one must very often visit a doctor.

In medical parlance, it is
called
"Irreversible Airways Obstruction" disease...
It is simple
one inhales air easily
but while exhaling the bronchial tubes
get constricted and will not allow
the air to come out
which results in gasping for breath...
cough, etc.
There is no medicine except
bronchodilators such as
salubetamol, theophilline, etc.....
Asthama can be kept under
control especially by the patient
himself, as it is forewarned...
He better knows which medicine
controls him....
